Hood closed before, but now won't?

I bought a GM OEM 84 Z28 hood today for 50 bucks, great shape, no problems. I put it on, closed a little roughly but still closed and looked good. I just now opened it to look at something, and now it won't close. Any ideas? I need to drive it to school tomorrow too. I've tried slamming it, pulling the cable, and putting my hands over the headlights and slamming it, no luck.

It seems no one is going to help you and I have no ideas but you could try bungee cording it down before school or take a car from someone in the family.

It should be, but I can't see far enough under there to know for sure. My Mom is going to give me a ride to school, and when my Dad get's home from work in like an hour or so, he's gonna work on it a bit. Thanks for the help guys.

Try this, with someone pulling handle, see if latch will open up. In other words the latch may be latched but without the striker from the hood and the spring to help pull it up it won't unlatch. Didn't see your thread or would have posted sooner.

I had wedged something in there but that didn't work. But, my Dad was able to fix it this morning, it seems that it moved slightly so it wouldn't close. Thanks for the help guys!

Re: Hood closed before, but now won't?

So is it closed now and it wont open? If it is still open then take WD-40 to all the joints on the hood and spray the latch release too. My hood was very stuubborn to open and I had to practicly fonzy punch the hood to open it. But now that I WD-40d it it opens super smoothly. Your hood might be like mine where the latch doesnt go in the hole by itself like mine. When I close it I have to push the "hook" to the right so that it goes into the hole. Do a couple of those things and working on the engine should be super easy.

No, no. It wouldn't close before but we fixed the issue. Now it's just more adjusting.
