Camaro vs. Firebird?

I dont want to start a flame war, but I just want to know a few things. Mainly which weighs less generally, a firebird or camaro if similiarly equipped? Also which has the less drag coefficent?

Right now I have an 87 gta trans am with a 383 stroker, t56, 4th gen rear end, subframes, etc. But im thinking about getting a camaro, paint/rustproof it and swap everything on my car over to it. My main gripe with firebirds is the iffy popup lights, you can never get them to line up perfectly and that bothers me. It also chips the paint on the edges!

I dont think its that much of a difference I do believe the firebird is a bit heavier though.

btw don't you think that its ALOT of work to swap the whole car just for some headlight problems and paint chips?

I wouldn't do it personally. You are wasting a perfectly good GTA for some trivial reasons.

And the Firebird is more aerodynamic.

Just in case you need to go 150+ on the flats

Really though they're the same car. Some like the Camaro more because it looks meaner. Some prefer the Firebird for its, i don't know... refined look and slender curves? lol

Any weight savings between either one is going to be more dependent on the options than if its firebird or camaro, and its going to be a negligible difference between the 2 models.

Dr. Phil....luv your show

Keep the TA and check out TDS for help with your light issue. They have some replacement parts you might find useful.

Just have both like me and several other members here, LOL.

Firebirds is more aerodynamic, otherwise, they are nearly identical weight wise with similar equipment.

Re: Camaro vs. Firebird?

It seems to me the '83-'84 Z/28 with the aluminum bumper, glass hood and Ac delete is probably the lightest one as long as your talking unmodified cars.
It would be easy to get your T/A alot lighter then that with some basic weight loss tricks.
I prefer the '91 and '92 Trans Ams the most but I like them all.
