WORST DAY OF MY LIFE........ need opinions

So because im an idiot and pour all my money into stupid cars i can't afford a decent winter vehicle so i have been force to put my 86 firebird through another canadian winter........... **** happens and i spun out at an intersection and got T-Boned. I know the damage cost probably aint worth the vehicle but i LOVE this car and it was my first and my dad bought it brand new back in 86 and it has ALOT of value to me. lets just say theres a good chance i was concieved and lost my v-card in the same car and yes i realize how weird that is but whatever. So i know the door needs to be replaced..... no big deal. problem lies in the rear quarter pannel. do i try to bang it out or am i going to need to get it replaced. if so how much will this run me. i was planning on new paint anyways so no big deal there either. ps the metal also kinda buckled above the wheel well a little. sorry for the long story i realize that no one really cares just thought id share.

Can't help too much damage wise but why are you driving a car with so much emotional value in the winter? Even if you didn't crash it the undercarriage will get ruined by all of the road salts and such. You may want to get a K5 blazer or something for winter time.

its all fixable, the door is a bolt on deal, but fixing the quarter will be the hard part. So long as the chassis is not tweaked or damaged it can all be fixed.

Try not to get too angry, he was just trying to help. Now if the car has this much sentimental value fix it, it doesn't look too bad, doors are easy but as for the quarter try banging it out or worst case cut a quarter from a junkyard and do a skin transplant lol

well to be honest I don't know. I would call up a rim and tire shop and ask them they would know, and this forum is for camaros and firebirds 82-92, h3ll sometimes people get upset when you talk about 2nd or 4th gen f-body cars, lol not to mention a ford marquis. but like I said call em up, good luck and Merry Christmas

I assume that you are OK?
sorry to hear 'bout your bout of bad luck.
I have a car that was given to me by grandmother within a year from her passing.
I drive it every day and would fix it no matter what.

If it is your only car and you do have the means to buy another.....
Make sure in the spring you do a thourogh under body inspection and treat any corrosion, no matter how small, before it gets out of hand.

The good news is that its fixable, by the photos.
You will need a rear quarter replacement and a new door.

Take it a little slower in the winter, 3rd gens are a bit light in the rear in the snow
Next year try to save up for a winter beater car (heavy, rwd and not a truck)
I live in Louisiana, but was raised in the Chicago area.

After being stuck without my camaro for long periods of time in the big snow we had last winter I bought a rusted out s10 blazer 4x4 for $600. 500 for tires 300 for brakes and that's all the work she's gettin. Good investment so far. Good luck to you gettin it fixed!

well funny thing is i got a truck a couple months ago and have been fixing it up so i wouldnt have to drive my firebird in the winter but its not ready yet and there aint no way in h3ll im driving the camaro in this so....... the truck will be ready soon and the firebird will be parked in a heated garage until she is fixed. even if it takes a few years before i can save enough and get to fixing it no big deal i got lots of cars but i was just wonding how much this is probably going to cost and whether i should try banging it out or just leave it and get the panel replaced.

If you've got lots of cars and no money, sell all the cars except the 'bird and the winter beater.

1 nice car + so-so winter beater >>>> 5 junkers littering the yard you can't afford to fix

The good news is though, the damage is fixable. There are brand new NOS quarters on ebay right now, if you've got access to the cash to secure them; can always get a quarter now, and hold onto it to fix it later.
