I have an 85 firebird I bought from a college kid who treated it like crap the handle in his driver side door broke, and instead of having someone reconnect it he put an entirely different door on, I have a base model this door was off a red 85 trans am my firebird is brown not red, I also had a bit of a weird problem, my engine used to shut off randomly because of an electrical issue which has since been fixed, but my engine and electrical shut off and coasted my car right into the bumper of my neighbours f-150(chrome bumper no damage was done), my headlight is now not aligned properly and there is a huge dent in my passenger side fender, anyone know a cheap painless way I can deal with this get it painted temporarely until I can get the paint job I want, im just tired of driving around with a red door on one side and damage on the other side(another note I live in Canada and I live in vancouver, its ***** central here so its not exactly gm friendly where I live)

 

If I remember right, been a while since I worked on a Firebird, the head light will have minor adjustment on the brakets. But you may have bent the brackets.

Maybe if you post a pic of the fender (try to keep that ghost in the avitar out of it) we can help with some advise on fixing that damage.

As for the color, get a spray gun, air compressor and some paint and go at it!
Some automotive paint stores used to mix the proper color and put it in spray cans. Don't know if you have that there.

 

i can ding it out and my friend has a paint gun its just trying to find a good colour match here is pretty hard, in my province if your car has damage it gets written off if its over 10 years old, so alot of businesses dont carry paint for older cars especially my ugly old brown I do have a colour theme for when i want the body redone black with blood red trim but i cant afford that

 

So you don't have automotive paint stores that you can go to and get paint mixed? If they mix it they can tint it to match better as well.
And that fender looks crunched real good. If there are any wreckers I would look for another used fender. Or maybe a new aftermarket can be ordered online.

 

ive been trying to find a new one I can just take in to get painted, ive got mechanical issues to sort out first(bad ball joints and rusted to **** seizing calipers) but i sort of want my car looking somewhat decent I hate seeing third gens that are beaters, especially mine, getting one at a junkers that will fit is kind of difficult only 1 third gen bird in a junkers within 3-4 hours of where I live and its an 88 and its pretty rusty and that junkers overprices

 

The largest most popular self serve wrecker chain here set their prices sky high after they were bought out by a large steel scraper. Well I'm sure the steel scraper may have had something to do with that.

I bet though if you search around here you can find some threads where people have purchased parts from.

Oh and maybe 1aauto.com as well

 

its just hard trying to find somewhere that ships to canada, friend of mine has a 67 impalla and its like trying to punch out god getting simple body pieces like quarter panel extensions or drivers side rear bumper piece, ill check out those sites though

 

And Canada is supposed to be our friends to the North!
Tell them "We used to make them parts for the factory here until the went to Mexico... then China!"

 

its just the west coast, I go one province over and I can find car parts, if all else fails there is the langley good times cruise is 5 minutes from my house and it is one of the ten largest car shows in north america im sure someone there can find me deals on parts, its my goal to have my car in the cruise in once im done with it, after my engine swap and I get my paint job done(gloss black, blood red pinstriping along the side) and then a blood red screaming chicken on the hood after i do the swap to a 5.7tpi

Local to me, a couple counties can no longer use urethane paints and primers. Has to be water base. Yet just outside the counties (5-10 minutes travel time either way) and shops can use the stuff banned in these two counties. And counties are not that large.

 

people just dont junk there cars here, and the firebird was never that popular and the prices of goods and services here is through the roof aswell
