Does anybody know
where the drain holes are for the windshield and wiper mechanism area are.My firewall area on the drivers side is wet and I can't find them. Are they on the wall or the bottom of the car.86 TA.
Re: Does anybody know
I need to know too. My firewall/drain is rusted out and I have to replace it, so the fenders are coming off. That should help reveal them, but a photo or diagram in the meantime would help...

Re: Does anybody know
I don't have any rust"yet"I want to clear this problem up before I install my new carpet I just bought,Isn't their a easy fix like sticking a wire in a hole or vacuuming it out.
Re: Does anybody know
I am sure there is an answer, but if you have a wet firewall, I think yours may be leaking/rusted already. Have a poke around on the firewall behind the relays on the driver's side. I had my screwdriver go straight through some silicon and bondo that a previous owner had used to 'hide' the problem. Also, get a flashlight into the wiper drain and see if you can see anything...I about cried when I chipped it all off and saw how much work I have ahead of me...

Re: Does anybody know
If you have water inside you have a hole. Could be a bad grommet or plug but it it likely rot. It could also be coming from somewhere else and it is finding a path (bad door seal, windshield, etc.).
On my 82 Camaro the cowl drain is on the passenger side sort of high up under the fender near the wheel well.

Re: Does anybody know
The car has not been driven in years,so water isn't being splashed up on the firewall and the hood prevents any water from going down on the firewall.so it has to be where the windshield and the wiper mechanism meet,is their any drain holes in that location.

Re: Does anybody know
There are 2 drains for the wiper cowl... On each side of the cowl behind each fender. There is a small hole on the driver's side and what basically amounts to a waterfall on the passenger's side (compared to the 1.5" hole on the other side). Possible some leaves collected inside the cowl and created a rust hole. or some sealant broke loose, as it tends to do with age. Open the cowl right up and clean it out good.
