I thought it would be interesting to see which is more popular and why.

Personally I have always liked the Firebird and Trans ams best.
I think they have a much better front end,hood and interior design than the Camaros.

The Firebirds always seemed to be Hollywoods favorites too,with movies and tv shows like Smokey & the Bandit,Rockford Files and Knight Rider.

So which do you prefer and why?

Well in a third gen. Camaro's all the way. In other generations. I have always liked the Firebird's and T/A's better.

 

Camaro 98% of time. Every now and then I see a nice TA that looks awesome. I prefer the interior of the Camaro more too. I've owned both and probably won't pass up a deal on either one.

 

Firebird for sure. Not very many compaired to Camaro, better seats unless they put GTA seats in any Camaros. I also dont like how easy it is to put Iroc on the side and the average person wont know the difference.

 

One other think I just remembered Camaro wont have the WS6 package

 

T/A all the way. IMO better interior, classier exterior and much lower drag coefficiant. As was said in an ad for the GTA it's "a muscle car in a tuxedo".

I think you've got Firebirds confused with Mustangs!

Burt Reynolds and James Garner weren't girls by the way...and I don't know any girls driving firebirds personally,but do know some with Camaros.

I think they are both great cars,I just prefer the looks of the Trans am.

The spoilers the last third gen Camaros had were pretty cool,I'm not sure what models came with them but I don't see to many of those around anymore.
Wasn't it the z28's that got those?

 

The futuristic interior on the 1984 Camaro Berlinetta is very cool too,but I guess it wasn't too popular because they only had it one year.

 

I like third gen camaros all years, but i do like the early GTAs in white with a dark tint, looks super clean.

 

love my trans am till death but my next third gen is gonna be a black hardtop camaro

seems like theres more of a market for camaro specific parts too (at least aesthetics parts)

 

From the rear of the car I absolutely prefer the Camaro.
From the front the firebird.

If I have to decide between the two and start counting things I like and things I like less for the years 1982 untill 1984 I´ll pick the camaro any time.
From 1985 onwards it´s 50/50 really.

 

I always lean towards the Pontiacs of any year or body style. I have always had GTOs and TransAms over Chevelles and Camaros That being said I do like the IROCs in third gen but they need Firebird seats IMO.

I like thirdgen camaros better. But all other gens i like the firebirds.

 

i prefer camaro over firebird every generation except the LS1 trans ams.

3rd gen firebird noses look too small/bland to me

 

When I was a kid I had a neighbor that had a blue IROC (probably around an 86 or 87) and that car was the start of my love for Camaro's, so I'm sorta biased. But when it all comes down to it, my favorite part of a Camaro is the cutout headlights, something the Firebird obviously doesn't have. So I prefer Camaro's from third gen, all the way till the stupid bubble headlights of the 98+ Camaros. Those last few years I preferred the Firebirds.

Camaro, in the 3rd gen.

1st gen I'd pick Pontiac, I just love the little rear side marker lights shaped kike the bird.

2nd Gen, definitely 'Bird. Nothin' says Lovin' like early 70's 455! And always loved the 1977 Bandit T/A, had one, gave it up, will never live that day down!

4th gen - although I have a 1997 Z28, either or ... 4th gen not my favorite generation.

5th gen - kinda obvious.

 

5th gens are just ugly >.> lol...

Yup, 91 & 92 Z28 got the hi rise spoiler.

 

I really like the way the 91-92 Firebird was redesigned. The nose has that Banshee Concept car look and the tail lamps on the GTA and new spoiler really set it apart from the earlier Firebird years. Plus I would kill for a 1992 FIREHAWK (1 of only 24 made)!

Firebird all the way! The Camaro interior is ugly as sin. Hate the nasty dash and the center console. I do like the front end of the Camaro but the Firebird butt owns any Camaro. I will say the Camaro is more muscle and the Firebird is more sporty, which is fine with me. My gta would look like a hillbilly mobile with huge tires on the back but the Camaro can pull it off.

 

I have to agree on the seats.

 

The Trans Am is officially a Firebird just the high performance model.

 

I agree,I really like the 91&92 noses as well,they were very sleek,unfortunately the little plastic ground effects pieces always seem to be broken on the cars I've seen.
The redesigned spoilers on the 91&92 Trans ams and GTAs are cool as well.

 

I really like the 91-92 cars as well but I don't like the rear bumper gfx on the TA. I like the Formula better.

There are far less GTA's than Irocs on the road, this is from my own experience. And I think my GTA would get noticed before any other third gen.
I vote early GTA's are the best looking.

It's funny. When I went to buy my first Car, I wanted a Blue Iroc-Z.

But, I found a Black on Black 83 Trans Am, and Really have been hooked on the Birds ever since.

I still appreciate a Nice Camaro, and would love to have a SC with No Rear Spoiler and T-Tops.

 

I think the 91-92 IROC with the hi rise spoiler is the most notable stock third gen.

Um, well my buddy used "he drives a Trans Am" as a line to pick up girls for me in bars when I first got it. It kind of annoid me but it worked EVERY time

To be honest, I did look at a couple IROCs among many other cars befor buying the GTA. I just perfered the GTA as a hole and grew up watching Smokey and the Bandit and reruns of Knight Rider. Plus I noticed that GM put all the cooler stuff in the GTA at the factory. Pneumatic adjustable seats, pouches in the door panles, a pouch on the dash, digital gauges (I know the Camaro got one too but it's tame in comparison), I think even the radio was better in the GTA than the IROC. Then there's the rare stuff like the notch back hatch and the turbo 3.8L. As Ive said many times tho, to each their own. I was mearly defending my self.

i like both on the outside, but once your in them, Firebirds all the way. they have a much nicer more refined interior, camaro's are a cheap looking plastic hell inside (mainly the dash and console)

I think the camaro is more a girly car. I see more women driving camaros then firebirds.

but in the eyes of a trans am owner, they are totally different beasts.
