Maybe what you mean to say is not "muscular" (muscle-car-like) in it's styling. Not being masculine would mean that it was feminine and not suitable for a man. I don't think a Corvette ZR-1 (nor a 3rd gen Bird) is feminine in any way. They may not have that old-school muscle car look, but they are far from "non-masculine".

I'm ok with someone not liking the Firebird, or preferring Camaros, but to say it's feminine or girly is just silly. Let's remember that Camaros and Firebirds are about 90% the same.

 

I like the camaro's aggressive look (I love my IROC'S look) but I would own a bird no problem's I like both of them but grew up wanting an IROC

 

firebirds,TA's, etc.. are for girls!! now obviusly anyone can drive them but the fact still remains that the firebird was more meant for the women then. the camaro is just so much more manly

Just curious what research or documentation you have from GM in 1967 (or any year for that matter) that the Camaro was meant for men, but the Firebird for women. Please enlighten us...

The 93-02 Camaros are far more girly than 4th gen Firebirds, The Firebirds after 3rd gen got meannnn looking, While the camaros after 97 Lost all of its aesthetic appeal.

I really just don't feel as if the 3rd gen firebirds looks as unique as the same year camaros, Which is why i dont care for them AS MUCH (i Still would prefer a firebird over alot of things) Yes i know they're built on the same thing.

Maybe you 'Bird haters' time would be better spent on a Camaro board, rather than a 3rd Gen enthusiast board, as you obviously have no interest in 3rd Gens, only Camaros. As I understand it, this site is for lovers of all things 3rd Gen, correct?

Lets approach this a different way.
Camaros look "tough" while Firebirds look more "exotic". Is that any better for you?

And i do love firebirds, I just prefer camaros. I've pulled a part or two from firebirds, so i appreciate them for that.

i like both, but prefeer the birds (85-92) mainly because the interiors are so much nicer.

 

Now you're comparing a Firebird to a Sunfire? Seriously? Not quite sure you can compare Pontiac's top performance car to the equivalent of the Cavalier and expect to be taken seriously.

 

I love the console lid on them, How it slopes in the front instead of a big block like on the camaros, Little things like that make it come together.

But i can never get past that grid pattern some have on the gauges.
and i have a slight distaste for the layout of the cluster, But camaros dont have the prettiest clusters either. Both f-body's got screwed in that sense. (Just my opinion)

Plus i can never decide which door panels i like more, the camaro's overly simplistic arm rest on a sheet of cardboard look, or the obviously more thought out firebird panels

 

Ha ha this is funny. I talked to my mother about this same topic almost a year ago. She said firebirds are for women and Camaros are for men. Firebirds have all the extras including cup holders which is a sport car and camaros are raw with no extras and muscle. LOL I have to say she has a point.

A Sebring convertable is a girls car, not Camaros or Firebirds. I do see women driving Camaros and Firebird equally, but 90% of 3rd gens are driven buy men.

 

Why would you consider Firebirds sporty and Camaros muscle They have the same drivetrains an performance ratings? My opinion is they handle better than old muscle cars why couldnt they be sporty muscle cars?

 

I love the 3rd gen firebirds they are hands down the best to me. Although while everyone seems to like the 91-92 front end, i honestly do not like mine and would rather have the front end of a later 80's firebird

I like the camaro 3rd gens more, but it's funny,,i like the camaro from 1967 to 1969, then i think the firebirds all through the seventies looked cooler than the camaros ,,especially the 1970-71-72 models...then in the 4th gen ,,the firebirds looked better than the camaros, especially the last few years.

 

Can you point out the cup holders in my GTA? 'cause I havn't been able to find them in the four years I've own it.

i do know that later 4th gen firebirds had one more cupholder. 2 in the back of the console, one behind the shifter, one on the right side of the console, and the extra one is in the door panel, why 4 people need 5 cupholders is beyond me

 

No room in there but nice try And Camaros came with those too. The only time my car has ever had a "cup holder" in it was when there's someone riding shotgun

 

67-69 camaros 69rs/ss mean *** car ralley sport headlights were mean.
70-81 both
82-92 camaro just because i think one with a cowl hood and ttops off looks so nice.
93-97 both
98-02 i think both but nothing is nicer than a burnt orange firehawk or even ws6 always though the hoods were sweet. but all in all we should all like both because its the mustang were really up against..

 

Having owned 14 thirdgen f-body's, I like 'em BOTH! I currently have my black over tan 88 Iroc convertible and a 91 red over black Z-28. I had to sell my white over gray 87 Formula last year. However, I'm working a deal now to buy a red/black 88 Trans am and a red/black 89 Formula (parts car for the other 3).

 

My 91 GTA had cupholders in the doors where your pocket is lb9 GTA mine broke (I am looking for a black set) I dont know when they started putting cupholders in but some firebirds have them. But having cupholders does not make it a sports car it just means you have a place to put your drink when you are at a light next to someone that thinks they are faster than you

I own an 87 RS right now and am planning to do a ground up resto.. anyway I absolutely love the third gen camaros, I think they look meaner than the firechickens. BUT The fourth gen firebirds and t/as look sooo much better that most of the fourth gen camaros. Either way both cars kick major *** and are better than gaystangs!

 

I know. '91 was the first year for them. It was the generalization that got me with that comment. BTW most people are faster than me Altho I did manage beat a turbocharged Mazda my last time at the track.

Both cars have their strong and weak points. I dig them both but you see to many camaros running around. I would only own a camaro if it was a nice low miles convertible.

So I prefer birds myself, I'm a sucker for the GTA tail lights.

91-92 Firebirds and, I think, Camaros came with cupholders in the doors. A 3rd gen. Camaro has a kinda of sleeper look, kinda like the Fox body Mustang. The Firebird, to me, has more of a muscle look.

I'll talk to my tattoo and see which is better. My tattoo says the Firebird is better.
