Re: Firebird vs. Camaro which do you prefer?
The GTA is the ultimate 3rd Gen hands down! I prefer the 87-90 models most. They are less common than a Iroc-Z and less likely to be seen in a trailer park. The Camaro cut out headlight section also looks dated. I have owned a dozen second gen T/A's including Bandit cars and still have my white 73 T/A and my Flame Red 87 GTA. I also owned and 84 Z-28 from new and I really did love that car when I had it, but the interior isn't as nice as a GTA. I would not shun a Camaro however. I'd still take an Iroc any day if I can find one that wasn't rode hard and put to bed wet! As for the T/A being a girls car?? I never saw a girl drive any third gen T/A. That's what "Mudstains" are for so get it right dummies. Girls like cars that are short and cute, not long and sleek. In conclusion there really is no right or wrong here, but I always tend to gravitate to what is harder to find.

definitely agree with blackfrontier. Where I live, when you see a 3rd gen camaro most people just go oh that's cool... because there's so many of them but when you see a Firebird go by everyone notices it and gets a lot more excited reaction.

My friend just sold his and found out from the guy that bought it off him that the frame needed over $1000 worth of welding to be done to it after he got it inspected.

No it doesn't mean I like a Yugo ya dummy. As far as a Fiero goes, YES I also like the 86-88 GT models so what do you have to say to that?!! I like Pintos now?! Spoken like an uneducated trailer park dweller who got offended. Sales numbers mean nothing as what is produced depends on marketing strategies, costs and what the focus is on by the manufacturer. Neither the Z nor GTA will ever be known for a quality build and neither is superior to the other. Opinion polls are an opinion as to which styling Que's you like best. So get over it already.

Nah, popularity has nothing to do with anything, you're right. It's not like most people at the time liked camaro's over firebirds. What is left of that crowd is up to discussion here. IMHO all of our cars are POS, low horsepower, terrible build quality, limited numbers still exist, etc.
I bet you own your own business as well, since you seem to know so much about marketing. What company do you work for again? Ah yes, probably still in "school" I'd imagine.
Throwing around the word "uneducated" like your a-typical internet user these days, as if you could be any more unoriginal, it's truly a wonder if your brain extends beyond that of an average high school kid. Come up with something more original if defending the honor of your over-glorified car means that much lol. You provide nothing but comic relief to a strictly opinionated based thread.
Ah well, I suppose well water makes people crazy in dem der trailor parks.

Here's a breakdown of how idiotic you are:
- Overuse of sarcasm in a post = Fail.
- Overuse of sarcasm usually dictates you are a teenager.
- You just compared the shape of a SUNFIRE to a LAMBORGHINI? LOL
- Remember, I said they were similar in shape and design, therefore you comparing a firebird to a lambo is the same as a sunfire to a lambo if you take into account my statement in regards to your response.
- Look at the marker placements, windows, contouring lines, even the front bumper...similar.
- Never stated the firebird stole the design from the sunfire, I guess some people chose to read what they want, even if it isn't there.
- You fail. Try again.

Calm down killer. You can like Camaros over Firebirds all you want.
Just remember what will hold its value more down the road. A Firehawk, TTA will be worth alot more than a 1LE.

I'm just having some fun ;-). I'm actually surprised that there is basically a dead even 50/50 split on the vote. That's a bet I would've lost gracefully. lol

Re: Firebird vs. Camaro which do you prefer?
I am 44 years old, never lived in a trailer park, own my own business and have lived in my own home for the last 13 years. My only experience in trailer parks was going to look at Camaro's for sale on Craigslist that happened to be siting in them. I looked at 2 z-28's and one RS that were beat to hell and held together with chewing gum and chicken wire. I had to pass. Then I found my GTA which was in far better condition. The differences between the Camaro and firebirds are primarily styling. I like the GTA first, Iroc Z 5.7 second, and all the other basic T/A and standard Z-28's the same. I covet NO car and my opinion is my opinion. You don't have to agree but you don't have to make drive by comments that set off a chain reaction of BS that nobody else wants to read (like your Yugo comment that started this). This is for car talk and the 3rd gen Camaro and T/A are sister cars. I look for whichever I can find in the best shape for the best price. I just got lucky and scored my 87 Flame red GTA, but I wish she was black!

In my opinion, Camaros seem unfinished like somethings missing and outdated aswell. Not to mention I've never been a fan of the interior either especially when compared to the Firebird/Trans am.

I prefer Firebirds, purely because thats my style. But both are great. I will agree that the Camaro's are more... beasty? and trans ams are more, sporty/sleek. I wouldnt go so far as to say they are "girly". just like i wouldnt say camaro's are fugly. It just depends on what your personal style is

Re: Firebird vs. Camaro which do you prefer?
Camaro looks more Rugged more Killer more Muscular, while the firebird trans am took a more sleek and smooth European look when they hid the taillights. I love the Trans Am, but I vote the 3rd Gen Camaro just because my '92 Z28 was the Ultimate Factory Freak Camaro aside from the 1LE
When they hid the Front Headlights ^ not taillights
I didnt catch my mistake

I just got a Stingray and while I love the way it looks, I love the way my z28 drives much better. The last Firebird I like the looks of was the S&B version with the Batmobile nose.

Re: Firebird vs. Camaro which do you prefer?
The second Gen Trans Am was my favorite car when I was a kid, but I never liked the look of the third gen pontiacs. Not enough hard lines, just too plain looking. And the wraparound spoiler on the later models is just gay. By the time I got to high school I was mostly into Z28's and corvettes. The firebirds all had the running knight rider jokes going for them, so I never gave them a second look.
It all comes down to personal preference I suppose. CHEVY FOR LIFE...

Re: Firebird vs. Camaro which do you prefer?
Strange to see it tied after all this time.
The Firebird just looks way too plain, or it looks like a snowplow. The 85-90 barn door/snow plow bumper cover with nothing on it drives me nuts. WAAAY too much empty flat space on it. And then it just gets way worse when you realize that most of the barn door bumper cover firebirds have tons of tacky bolted on vents and grilles and louvers of every shape and variety just inserted into random places. There are what, 8 different random non functional louvers in the hood alone, right? And then the side vents (I do love those, though) in addition to that plus a big gaudy spoiler, all with that super plain, huge front bumper cover. It just looks weird. I love the 91-92 TA's though. Those are very nice looking. After that any TA or Formula WITHOUT ground fx looks nice.
But at the end of the day I hugely prefer Camaros over the 85-90 TA's and GTA's and I prefer them just a little over all the performance firebirds without ground fx. But the Camaros are just way more mean looking. All the 85-92 Camaros look like they would steal your lunch money and watch you cry about it. The 82-84 Camaros didnt age quite as gracefully as the rest when it comes to the details, IMO. But their basic lines I think are some of the most timeless of any generation F-body. Everyone loves a first gen, firebird or Camaro, but after that I think the 3rd gen Camaros are the best looking.

Firebirds. I like the design more and camaros interior is a lot less attractive compared to firebird
Re: Firebird vs. Camaro which do you prefer?
Welp, I might as well put on my flame retardant suit because I'm probably gonna get flamed for what I say next.

Deep down, I think the Camaro guys really prefer the Firebird models. How else can you explain them always wanting to put the Firebird's styling cues on their cars? This goes for the 3rd gen guys and ESPECIALLY the 4th gen guys. Tell me I'm wrong...

Re: Firebird vs. Camaro which do you prefer?
I prefer the Firebird the most. It just doesn't get any better than cruising around in a black Firebird with the tops out blasting Whitesnake and Krokus.haha Yes, I do this and love the reactions I get whether I'm in my stock '89 or my '82 KITT car. The ladies really go for a man in his 30s blasting 80s hair metal in a black ttop. Ok, not really, but it's fun anyway. I don't care, I'm in a zone.
There are a couple body designs that have always stuck out to me between the two cars The Firebird front and rear fender lips are more subtle and not as noticable and blend with the car, whereas the Camaro's are more pronounced and sharp edged and look out of place. The transition between the roof sail panel and the quarter panel seems like an afterthought on the Camaro, yet on the Firebird, it creates a cool consistent ledge all the way to the back, which looks pretty cool in the side view mirror. The Firebird just looks all around sleeker to me especially when the headlights are down.
On the interior. The upper vent under the dash pad looks like an afterthought as in "where should we stick this?...OH, here's a good spot, and let's cut out the dash pad to accomodate it."haha
Seriously though, I like them both. I've had both at the same time. They are both great cars. I would love to have my '91 RS back and I could go for a cool black or red Iroc-Z any day! However, if I had to choose one or the other and those were my only options...it would be the Firebird.

Firebird all day the more sleek cool design has always caught my attention an the interior in firebird is alot better at least dash wise the camaro dash was just to plain like. I liked how that the firebird dash stretched across the dash for a full display.

Definitely Firebird, favorite being with the 85-90 TA body. To me 3rd and 4th gen (esp. 4th gen) Camaros look pretty bland - inside and out. That being said, I really do like the 91-92 Z28 with the high-rise spoiler.

Re: Firebird vs. Camaro which do you prefer?
To me the Firebird is a slightly better looking car overall than the Camaro. But it is not cut and dried. A base Firebird does not hold a candle to an 87-88 IROC, or similiar Z-28. Regarding early thirdgens, the early TA looks better than an early Z-28. For the 91 and 92 models, I would pick a Camaro over the Firebird. Between an fully loaded IROC and similiarly optioned GTA, the choice is more difficult.
Re: Firebird vs. Camaro which do you prefer?
This poll is pretty interesting. I kinda assumed the Camaro would dominate, because I've always thought that there were more Camaro owners on this site than there are Firebird owners.

Re: Firebird vs. Camaro which do you prefer?
I answered this based on that this is a 3rd gen site and appearance wise I prefer the 82-90 T/A's over the Camaro/Z28's. But for 67-73 I prefer the Camaro's and the RS option makes those years even better.
Actually the T/A is a Formula Firebird with added appearance package.

Re: Firebird vs. Camaro which do you prefer?
I like both and it all depends on packages.
In the birds:
85-90 Trans-Ams to me are nicer than 85-90 camaros.
I dont like the GTA's since they dont have the fender vents.
Digital Dash's are HIDEOUS
The 91-92 birds do NOTHING for me.
In the Camaros:
Interiors were very dated until the '90 redesign
Body was to bland until the '91 redesign
Nothing beats a '91-'92 Z28, especially t-top or vert
BUT, what is surprising is it seems the firebird owners seem to feel the need to campaign or have the little man complex because it seems 90% of the replies say "firebird all the way" but the results are only slightly skewed that way.

BUT, what is surprising is it seems the firebird owners seem to feel the need to campaign or have the little man complex because it seems 90% of the replies say "firebird all the way" but the results are only slightly skewed that way.

Re: Firebird vs. Camaro which do you prefer?
The Pontiacs always have nicer/sportier interiors on the higher end models (i.e. T/A's, GTA's). The Camaros for the most part are just the standard seats...only exception you see is leather on the well optioned ones.
I'm actually looking at getting a set of 2002 T/A leather seats with lumbar support/bolsters right now....because like carlos64030 says, deep down I really want a Firebird....

Re: Firebird vs. Camaro which do you prefer?
1969 Camaros and the IROC Zs might have a fighting chance in my head if I were to buy one and I found a nice looking example but honestly , if I had to choose between one or the other, the Firebird would always get my vote. It's the exterior and interior design, the character, there are less of them around, they are sleek...many things. I think there might be more Camaro owners out there in the end but the Firebird owners are more down to the core die hard fans of their cars than Camaro owners will ever be, IMO. That might not be the case here in the forum but, out there on the streets it's true. In the end it's a matter of personal preference and mine is Firebird all the way.

I find this specific poll interesting. this used to get posted years ago on here and always ended in some really heated arguments and the Camaro was always hands down the top pick over the firebird.
Personally I prefer the firebird models over the equivalent in a Camaro but a nice IROC or 91-92 Z28 is always a good looking car. I would pick a GTA or in the 91-92 years any up level Firebird
Not a fan of the cheap looking Camaro Interior.

We have one of each, like them both for different reasons.

82-84 cars in general I love, especially those without GFX. The Firebirds are a little to refined and sculpted to appeal to what I would want to drive, but I still love them. The Formula 350s are beauitful cars... However after 90 the Firebirds got a little to busy for me, with the fascia and such.
