deff. firebird for me. ive always have thought of the camaro as more redneckish , and pontiacs have always been known for their great interior. however i wouldnt mind an iroc. but theres just something i love about the look of the nose on my 91 when the light hits it just right. i deff like the 91-92's imo it looks like the 82-90's got hit in the face with a bat with those cut outs for the foglights or w/e they are.

 

Camaro's generally have uglier front ends and different seats. I prefer Firebirds

 

1st,2nd and 3rd Generation Fbodies I prefer camaros hands down! 4th generation I prefer the T/A. The 4th generation camaro looks like a catfish. Not a huge fan of the 5th generation camaros at all.

 

From a true Pontiac fan (mom and dad brought me home from the hospital in a brand new '67 GTO) I find the Firebird in generations 1,2,and 4 better looking car. I believe they have better lines and are all around sexier. Third gen it is the camaro hands down. There are a few models of the firebird that I like but mostly I go for the bowtie!

I kid, I kid. I love em both, every one of them. First gen, they're both sexy. 2nd generation early - goes to the Camaro, 2nd Generation late - goes to the Firebird (Bandit anyone!?), 3rd generation - I say they tie. I love 'em both. 4th generation, it took until the LS1 for me to like either of them, and for me, it's the Trans Am WS6 definitely - I just didn't like how big they got.

case in point -
I had the opportunity to buy a GTA t-top 350, and a 1LE z28... I still wonder why I didn't buy both of them. to me, they were completely different cars. One was red, the other super sleeper white and she had some guts too. That 305, with a good driver, man she had some goods

 

Bird for me

 

I have had both. I love them both but I always end up with the GTA in the driveway so I guess that's the way Ill vote.

 

Camaro 100%. I have owned a few Firebird/Trans Ams, but my heart belongs to the small fury animal that eats mustangs. LOL

 

hmm,that is a tough one..I have had and love both...if I have to choose a fav though I gotta hand it to the camaro...if the birds didn't have the pain in the rear flip up headlights..they mighta taken the win IMO..

 

Camaro all the way. Especially as far as third gens are concerned. I wouldn't pass up a firebird for the right price (I had a 79 formula) but the mean, hard lines of the Camaro are more my thing. It doesn't have to be in pristine condition to look good. Heck, it looks great a bit beat on and dirty, it just amplifies that bad-*** nature. The Firebird is just a much higher maintenance Camaro.
Plus, I like weight reduction and race seats in the first place, so factory seats and interiors don't bother me much. The spartan interior of the Camaro really grew on me, and heavily influenced how I like interiors in my cars. (hence why I can't stand modern cars)

 

For looks, Camaro. For the little touches that make it more classy, Firebird, Those pop up headlights you don't like, cup holders, steering wheel with stereo controls, ash tray that flips down slowly, lumbar seats. Just more creature comforts.

 

I like the Camaro from 82-85 then its the Firebird all the way they just had more of a sports car look that I like

Now if I had a 3rd gen Camaro with firebird interior I'd Have to say Camaro but I just hate the Camaro interior compared To The firebirds

never did like the nose of the birds in 3rd gen form, also if it has the wrap around spoiler, ugly, imo ... but i must say, i also HATE the look of the rear hatch louvers on the camaros to be fair ... over all i just think the camaro looks much better from base model on up ... i would own a bird, don't get me wrong, but every time i looked at it i would wish it was a camaro ... lol

 

I like the interior better on firebirds, but the exterior look of camaro's better.

2nd gen Camaro, hands down. 81 Z/28 makes me drool.

3rd gen... Well, that's a long one.
Everything forward of the doors: Bird. Especially 91-92.
Everything rear of the doors: Camaro.
Ground Effects: 91-92 Bird (would be nice to make the GFX work with the Camaro rear).
Spoiler: Camaro 3-piece or 91-92 Z28 high-rise (if it were made wider to meet with the Bird tail for those cars).
Overall Interior: Bird. Especially considering the Deluxe (GTA) door panels.
Dashboard: Neither. Camaro setup is too empty and the Bird gauges are a pain. Not to mention that the Birds got electric speedometers a couple years before the Camaro. 4th gen.

4th gen: Bird wins, but I like the color offset of some of the 93-96 Camaro interiors better.

5th gen: Well, there's only one unless you pay for a ridiculously expensive body modification. Don't like the grille, don't like the dash setup, don't like the bloat, and HATE the IRS. Overall, the body design is good, though.

 

67-69 = camaro 70 - 81 = ta 82 - 2002 = camaro after that its pretty clear cut

 

Bird of course. I like more of a 'sleeper look' on the Birds, the Camaro is more of an 'in your face look'. I'm really surprised the Firebird is edging out the Camaro by 6 votes right now. Later.

I prefer 1982-1984 firebirds. When they started putting fender, door and quarter moldings it made the car look like it sat too low. 1982-4 didnt have them so there was more clearance under the car, giving that car a muscle car stance rather than a tuner stance.

Firebird , Especially 82-84 models. The only thing that makes them better is a Pontiac engine swapped in ... and a scanner.

 

I prefer camaros over the firebird look. My favorite look of the bird though however is my year around 86 with the huge front nose and bumper. I do drool however when these cars get a pro street look

Personally, I was all T/A since I was 5 but since I bought my IROC I am slowly turning. One thing I will say though is that I have noticed the Birds seem to age gracefully. When I had my GTA I would get 'nice car' from people in their 20's because, appearance wise, it can hang with any newer sports car. However, with the IROC, it's bold lines are a little more aged looking, and I seem to get more attention from people in their 30's and 40's who enjoy the heavier, meaner, 'muscle' look... except a young boy who told his mom to 'look at the race car'
All that being said, when I had my 4th gen T/A and my brother had his 91 RS, if we were together I was a constant second fiddle.

i say camaro because that's what i have, however i would drive either on gladly!!!

 

Camaro: When performance matters more than looks ( always ) and you can't afford both. If you can afford both, then you get a Trans Am. However, the Camaro nose seems easier to "bob" ( reduce the front overhang ) so that's why I have one. Also, the Camaro hoodline is more conducive to fitting larger engines. And the '85-'90 T/A ground effects were really bad.

 

When performance matters more than looks choose the Firebird Formula. Not sure of the numbers but I'm almost positive it weighs less than a TA/GTA and was cheaper too, had the same suspension and engine. I wonder what it would weigh compared to a similar equipped Camaro? Plus, you still get an interior that doesn't look like ****. Sorry, I like the Camaro too but you can't tell me that the interior looks better than a bird. I wish I coulda found a clean, cheap 91-92 Formula with a 350 and t-tops when I was looking. I basically "settled" and bought the GTA.

FIREBIRD, 100% all the time. Too many Camaros around. My first experience with a bird was my late brother in law and his '68 red convertible with white interior. I LOVED that car. Then when I was 18, I had a shot at a 1971 Firebird, man it was nice, buy my old man said no, would kill myself in it. I was a teen and in my 20s in the mid 80s, so along came a show with the HOFF, and I fell in love with KITT. Had to have one. So in 1986 I bought a new custom ordered v6. bird, she was so damn cool. but it got hit in 1988 in the rear by some punk kid. So in 1989 I took delivery of my baby, 1989 Firebird Formula 350. I still have this car and will forever love it. Besides Camaro name sounds girly, where as the name FIREBIRD sounds, so much cooler. And every gen of the bird always had a nice look in the front end and tail lights. As well as a MUCH better interior. FIREBIRD ALWAYS... Love them underdogs...

When you say performance are you talking engine because they are the same cars under there skin advantage to firebird is that it has better high speed performance because of its coefficient drag but i like and have had both but favor the bird because of its i Interior

 

Always liked the look of the third gen Camaro and now that I have my own 1991 Z28 I do not have eyes for any other car out there. Camaro all the way. Posting picture as soon as the paint job is completed.

 

Give me some Billy Squire on the Stereo and a ride down a country road with my ttops in their bag in my GTA and I'm on top of the world. I love both but I've been a huge Trans Am fan since I was a lil fella. IMO in stock form the Pontiac is way more refined.

 

Trans ams and firebirds have always been much better looking cars in my opinion. Hollywood seems to agree too. The Rockford files,Knight Rider,Smokey and the Bandit,The Driver,Hooper...Firebird and Trans ams have been hot since the 70's.
The camaro looks less refined,the dashes and clusters in the third gen camaros are much more plain. firebird have nice spoilers and wheels too.

don't get me wrong,third gen camaro a are nice looking cars too,but I personally have always liked the firebirds best.

 

First gen, both. 69 Z-28 and 69 TA as the best of breed.
Second Gen , Firebird
Third Gen, Camaro but the pontiac interior wins for me.
Forth Gen, Who cares, Both ugly as hell.

Had several of both and I liked em all. Id take a bird any day 68-2002 with the exception of the early 3rd gens 82-84 in those years id take the Z28. 4th gens the Camaros just got ugly but the birds were still looking good.

 

Although i love my chevys. I have to go with the firebird. The interior as way better looking.

i was looking for an IROC to park next to my 2015 1LE track/autocross car, or even better-a Monte Carlo SS in white...but found a GTA rust free and a reasonable price... so i went with it. In Vermont, anything without rust is a rare find.

I don't like the head lights on the third gen firebirds.

 

That's exactly what I do like about the Firebird VS the Camaro is the very fact that the headlights fold down when not in use . If not for the differences in the headlights I wouldn't have much of a preference of one over the other because at that point , at about twelve paces , they'd both look pretty much the same anyway . Ok , maybe the bird's front end is slightly more , , pointier , but still , from the back of a trotting horse they'd both look far too much more alike were it not for the headlights .

 

I think the fact that they fold down is cool, I just don't like the slits they leave. I think it would look better without the slit and more like the way it is on the vettes. Then again, the headlights and tail lights is the main difference in the body style between the camaro/firebird and corvette. That and the spoiler.

 

It's an 88, bright red, grey cloth (perfect interior- flawless), with a 5.7. 100% stock except flowmaster from the manifolds back and a period correct Alpine head unit, EQ, amp and vintage enormous cell phone.
It looks like every low level cocaine dealer's dream from 1988.
I ended up getting it because I was a senior in high school in 88 and kinda wanted a new one back then.

 

Camaro has always seemed like a watered down Firebird to me especially in the fourth gen designing. My stock 1987 Firebird Formula 305 TPI has always been able to beat my Dad's stock 1985 Iroc 305 TPI and both cars run beautifully. And he is a very good drag racer one of the best I've seen in my area and I'm not just saying it because it's my Dad, he taught me everything I know. Firebirds do seem to have better quality inside and out. mostly because I can't stand digital gauges like some Camaros have.

I like both, but camaros look better to me, love my 91 ts front end.

They are pretty much the same car, to a gear head, interior isn't anything as it will probably come out when the car goes full drag after 10 years of breaking street strip stuff.

I have a 90 Formula but both cars are great in their own way. To me the Firebirds/TA’s look sleek and fast, while the camaros look much more aggressive and mean. If i could i’d own one of each!
