The deal with 3rd breaklights?

So... nowadays most cars have em because I think they are now legally mandated?

What's the deal with thirdgens, my 92 vert does not have one, but I hear of others who do. Were 3rd break lights only on the coups? And if so, why not verts?

Was it just GM doing it cuz, or some kind of vert-exception law at the time, or what?

What's the deal with 3rd gen 3rd break lights?

I thought verts had them on the roll bar. I know I have seen a few of them with that unless it was a mod done to them

I'm confused - I see the third brake light in your sig pic on YOUR car - it's in the rear spoiler!

LOL it is in the spoiler. Althought I have seen them in the rool bar when the top is down so it got to be a mod or aftermarket item

Re: The deal with 3rd breaklights?

All passenger cars form 1986 on up were mandated to have the 3rd brake light. Pickup trucks came a few years later. All convertibles, being passenger cars, also had them.

Re: The deal with 3rd breaklights?

LOL, Trucks were required to have them in 1995.

'87 - '92 'verts have them in the rear spoiler/trunk area.
'86 coupe had them on the rear glass
'87 - '90 coupe had them in the rear spoiler
'91 - '92 was back on the glass, but on the inside upper.
