Block Sanding with Long Board

Hello,

I am getting ready do sand down my IROC and fix the dents and dings. I want to get the panels as flat as possible so I went out and bought a durablock kit to block the car down. I did some additional reading over the past few days and most sites were saying that its best to use the biggest "long board" you can find to fit the panel you are working on. Then after you get it flat, you can "block down" the car. Here is the issue. I bought the 7 piece durablock kit to do just that. Do I still need to purchase a more rigid "long board" or will the durablocks do it all? Some sites are stating that blocks are not rigid enough to get the panels flat initially... is this correct? or is the durablock kit i bought the proper tool to get it flat the first time?

Thanks,

Dan

I'm doing mine with the durablocks only. I'll let you know in a few days because it should have paint on it by this weekend if all goes well.

Re: Block Sanding with Long Board

The 7 Piece set is all you need my guy. We've have restored tons of high dollar cars using just the 7 piece set. I'm sure someone else will disagree.....but I wouldn't waste my money on any more blocks.
