Larry Lyles' DVDs

Has anybody viewed Larry's videos on body repair, painting, etc? He has a 5 disc set out now for $130. http://lplbodyworks.com/

I've always been a book-reading kind of guy, so I'm not sure if the videos would work for me. I've read his articles in Auto Restorer magazine and his style is pretty easy to understand.

I tied to go cheap by finding a used set of DVDs but couldn't find anything.

Re: Larry Lyles' DVDs

I have his dvd on body repair where he replaces a floor section and a door skin, among others. Its okay, I learned a little more. Like you, I get more out of books and mags that have lots of pictures.
I got the Muscle Car show dvd on their 67 Lemans build up where they replaced about 75% of the sheetmetal and thought it was terrific! (No commercials!)
I have LL's books on Project Charger and Reviving Your Ride and think they have lots of good info. I think the main problem with dvd's is that it is hard to adquately explain a lot of the tips and expertise that go into doing a good job on your car unless you have a very professional script with lots of editing and narration(lots of money involved) versus taking lots of pictures and using them to describe the various techniques being utilized. Unfortunately, without a major budget and with very probably a limited audience, making excellent, high quality videos is just about out of the question for most.

Would like to see more comments on books and dvd's on car repair if you or anyone else on the forum has any comments.
Good luck on your builds!

Your comments make sense. I think I feel the same way, just couldn't put into words like you did!

If I could find a cheap used set of the DVD's I would take the chance. There is a lot of other info out there; videos, books, car shows, forums, etc. I've learned a lot from them. After a while, the more you learn, it gets easier to pick out the good stuff from the bad.
