Re: t top replacement question

As far as I can tell they should work fine as long as the glass tops aren't from a cars and concepts t-top car. They are a different size. We set mine in a 92 one day and they fit fine.

Re: t top replacement question

Glass wil replace just fine - as long as it's the same style pins rather than the C&C hook tops - those were in early cars like 82, 83, maybe 84.

Can adjust the new tops when installing - under A & B pillar trim there are two bolts per side that can be loosened and allow you to adjust the "receiver holes" for the tops.

Changing locks is very easy - you'll see whan you get one tore down - simply remove handle (torx) and then remove plastic trim (phillips) and then pop the locks out and swap.

I put glass tops from a 1986 bird into my 1992 maro

Re: t top replacement question

Unless I am misunderstanding something, it is NOT as easy as everyone is making it seem. I just got done getting the lock out of my broken T-top, and it was not just undo a few screws and pop it out.
Now what I am talking about it the actual lock, where you insert the same key that unlocks the door and the rear hatch. I ended up tearing the whole latch mechanism out and then finding that the locking c-clip is prevented from coming out unless you break off some pop rivets and remove a sheetmetal cover. It isn't really difficult or time-consuming (about 1/2 hour total) but it is a bit of a pain in the butt. (Now I just need to get it into the new one. (After I get it out of the box)

Hmmm - didn't have that issue with mine - maybe someone replaced the C clip wrong at some point in the past.

Actually, no. The t-tops are original and they have never been worked on or replaced, at least not since the car left the factory. There is one huge reason that I know this, and that is because I am the original owner of the car. (I actually special ordered the car when I was in CA since I could not find the one I wanted any other way) Another small reason is that there is a keyway on the lock mechanism, and corresponding notches on the bracket and the C clip and they all line up.

Re: t top replacement question

I have a leak issue with changing my 92 rs ttops over to glass from lexan.

Just make shure you do the leak test after installing the new glass, because no one wants a wet but when it rains.... well it is hot out.. but looks like you wet your pants lol
