ZR1/pro touring hood

Not much information on the ZR1/pro touring hood. I see hawks sells them, jegs and harwood. Am I missing any other places?

As far as pricing goes:

Jegs-$595 plus $99 for shipping

Hawks-$499 plus $25 for packaging and 80-120 shipping

Harwood-$595 plus shipping (couldn’t find rates on there site)

Am I missing any other places, and who manufactures this hood (harwood)?

I’m really thinking about contacting hawks to see if they could give me more of a discount. There aren’t many people on the forums with this hood(, and I really think that if someone got it and posted a bunch of pictures on the forum it could really boost sales for hawks.

Might have to just go with a bolt on to save money. I don’t see that hawks has the bolt on, so then I’d have to send my money to harwood. Hawks has always been very helpful, and I defiantly want to go to them before anyone else. Hopefully they can work with me a bit

It also be great to have someone photoshop this hood on my car, really thinking of ordering this here soon. With the spacer from my intake to carb it added about ¾ of an inch, and then the spacer for the carb to air cleaner is another ¾ of an inch. The stock hood just doesn’t work anymore, and with summer here now it be great to get this thing out on the road…

This guy has one on his car, i'm sure if you cantact him he might be willing to send you some photos. Get a bolt-on hood, pin-on hoods suck

Re: ZR1/pro touring hood

Dose JMR have any new pictures of the hood painted? last i new he just took the old hood off laid the new hood down and took some pictures of it for us.

I wonder how much clearance this hood gives. It looks like the under side of the ss hood, so 2.5 inches?

Re: ZR1/pro touring hood

I'm confused back about 5 years ago if a new part came out for a thirdgen there would be 15 treads about it everyday for months. how come there is no love for this hood? is it just that the crowd around here is younger nowadays and they cant afford 600-700 dollars for a new hood? is this hood fugly and i just don't see it? i'm at a loss...

Re: ZR1/pro touring hood

These days more people probably buy aftermarket hoods 2nd hand, why pay $400-600 for a hood when you can pay $70(what I paid for mine) And well, a lot of 3rd gen owners aren't exactly rolling in dough.

Oh and pin on hoods are perfectly fine, they have their place, its just not on a dd. Granted they're a pita to get on and off especially because of how big the hood on f-bodies are, but they also make it a lot easier to work on the engine, and they weigh less.

Re: ZR1/pro touring hood

pin on just would never work for me, i'm to ruff on stuff. Id lay it down on concert and id chip the paint all the time, it would drive me nuts...

honestly Craigslist has nothing in my area for hoods, ebay is a dud and the classifieds here have nothing. wouldn't mind getting a second hand hood, just cant find anything.

50677 is my zip take a look if you want to help me out, and find a hood in my area

I got mine off CL, if you can't find any there, you could try checking JYs, or try checking a large city near you. CL won't have much unless you're near a decent sized city.

Honestly, I don't think it's going to look right. You have a clean, great looking car there and I just don't see that hood meshing with the current style of your car. If you have to go with some hood changes, I'd look at the 98-02 Camaro SS style scoop, or better yet put an IROC hood with the slots on it.

Re: ZR1/pro touring hood

i have the hood. its made by harwood. im currently fitting it now. It will need to be trimmed to fit. as far as space under the cowl-- i have a edelbrock air-gap with a nitrous plate and a quick fuel carb. ----it "APPEARS" like a can fit my k&n xtreme filter with a 2in element.

i can post you some pics up this weekend,

My engine sits about 2 inches higher due to all the spacers i had to add one for the intake to carb, and one from the carb to the air cleaner. the air cleaner is off right now so i can still use my hood (only take it for short drive around town)

its either this hood or a cowl, and i like the look of this hood... in fact it tickles my fancy very much so :P if i spend 600 dollars on a hood it will be this hood. i would put a cowl on there if i found it on CL for a decent price, but nothing is ever come up

Not trying to offend, just my opinion. Since you need extra space for a modified motor, the hood makes sense. If you complemented the hood with a lowered stance and some wider wheels I think it would complete the look. The photoshop looks good as well.

Didn't JongBloed or something like that make a subtle hood that wasn't quite a cowl but more like a bulge?
