1986 Trans Am Fender Vents.....(Did I buy the wrong ones)
Ok here's the deal, I have a 86 Trans Am and a few weeks ago someone stole all my vents off my vehicle fender and off the hood, well i got some new ones off a fellow thirdgen member, and now i need some fender vents, I bought some off of ebay, with the description that they were for a 85-90 Trans Am, but when I received them and tried to put them in place it seems like they are too long.... I know they have different vents for different years, 82-84, 85-90, and 90-92, so i believe that i recieved the wrong year. I have attached pics of my fender and the vents that I have. Could someone be so kind and tell me which year vents I have and which ones I need because I know I have the wrong ones because these simply dont fit..... PLEASE!!! Need to find some asap, about to paint my car next week hopefully

You are supposed to remove the ground effects to pop them in???? I thought they just popped right in, I'm sure who ever stole them off my car didnt remove any ground effects being that the were stolen at night..... So to make sure I'm correct I'm supposed to remove the ground effects too get the vents in the fender?

Yeah, the reason for the 85-90 vents having the somewhat shorter opening is to accommodate the GFX, you can take them off without taking off the GFX if you are careful or you don't care about breaking them, probably how the theif did it. If you look under the GFX you should see that the opening in the fender goes down below it. To replace them just remove the GFX. Those vents are correct though, same I have on my 86'.
