Questions about replacing T-Top Seals
I have all of the old stuff off, getting ready to reinstall everything including new seals. Before I do, I have a few questions:
1) There was some rust present, so I had to sand a lot of pieces where the seals go. What should I coat those areas with? I want to make sure to get good adhesion so that the weatherstrip sticks to it. My current plan was a coat of rusty metal primer, following by a coat of normal primer and then a coat of paint. Too much?
2) When I go to put the middle section T-top molding back on, should I use sealer of some sort underneath it? This is the piece that is held on by screws that goes in the center section, between the two sides.
3) I know that there is a gap near both pillars that will leak if not filled in. What should I use to fill these spaces in?
4) It sounds like after the seal is installed, I want to go back and add adhesive between the seal body along the top. Is that right? I thought that some of these cars had a "drip rail" that allowed the water to run out and by sealing it, you could make the problem worse. The Camaro is not like this, right? I can seal it fully and not worry?
I think that's it for now. Thanks for any help.
