camaro bumper on my firebird
I have and base 87 firebird that came with the 2.8(i think they tried to call it an engine). The front bumper has a crack running from almost bottom to top in the middle. I was wondering if i could simply bolt on the camaro bumper and keep the flip up head lights. I know that i would have to add some gfx to the car though to make it look right.
I know that there r those of u out there that dont like this, but I DONT CARE! I LIKE THE IDEA.

The fenders are different, it wouldn't just bolt on. It would look weird as hell with pop up lights and holes for headlights also

Re: camaro bumper on my firebird
It won't bolt up. If you manage to Frankenstein it on with a box of screws and a carton of duct tape you're still going to have two huge holes where the Camaro headlights were.
Bottom line is it won't fit and it'll look like crap. A 2x4 wired on would look better and have a better chance of lining up. If you want to make another cheesy Fire-maro then you're going to have to swap the fenders, hood, headlight support, bumper support, etc.. along with the bumper. Don't forget the wiring harness for the lights too.

Re: camaro bumper on my firebird

thats a photoshop yevgenievich did for me last year when i had the same idea. the thread for this is here. firebird fenders are longer and slope down lower in the front than camaro's do, so the sides of the bumper need to be shortened. and the top needs to be lowered. i plan to do something like this to my car still but i now plan to use the top part of a 78ta bumper the grills and headlights. cuz my car is getting a retro theme with a 78 dash and spoiler, 68 tail lights and more.. i am in the part collecting phase of my project. and as soon as i got another vehicle to drive my bird will be completly gutted and completly redesigned from the ground up

If yours ever does come to fruition, and actually looks like it was done right, I will be surprised.

Re: camaro bumper on my firebird
The Camaro nose will be too tall, because the Firebird hood drops approx. 4" lower where the hood & fascia line up. You would have to either section the Camaro nose or trim the top or trim the bottom for it to fit.

x3
But be tasteful please...
I think the nose and tail of the 91 firebird needs to be shortened about 3" in the rear behind the tires and 4" in the front in front of the tires. I have at least been thinking about the way to do it. Rear would be easy, front not so easy but doable.

Re: camaro bumper on my firebird

Re: camaro bumper on my firebird
also the sides of the camaro bumper are bout 5 inches longer and would need to be shortened as well easiest way i could see this being in done is make a fiberglass mold of both bumpers and cut and fiberglass the molds together to build your new bumper..
