Taillights???

According to all data I have been able to find, all 91-92 Camaro's had grid style lights in the rear. Has anyone ever seen an original car with the old "RS" tailllights?

I understand the 91-up cars are like this... just looking for supporting info... I'm going to look at an ultra low mile B4C that apparently (I havent seen it in person yet) has the wrong taillights.

Re: Taillights???

I found this in the Tech. page on this site. It specifically says the the RS received the grid tail lights gust like the Z-28 in 1991, that means the 91 NEVER came with the old style/non grid tail lights. The car you are looking at has been altered.= https://www.thirdgen.org/1991-chevy-camaro

I saw that as well... just because you read it on the internet doesnt mean its true. I'm more interested in anomoly's than how they were "supposed" to be built.

I remember the 1991 brochure talking about the taillight change as I was looking at a Z and an RS new at the time.

Over the many years I have been a gearhead I have seen many anomaly's that are claimed to not exist by so called experts.

I remember seeing a Malibu Classic (1982) with Cutlass Supreme emblems from the factory.... As well as a 1988 Cutlass Supreme Classic with 5.0HO, 200-4R, 8.5 rear with 3.73's and posi but single exhaust and 14" wheels.... so wierd stuff does happen by error, order or by shortcoming of parts

When I look at the car I will inquire as to how the car happened to come with taillights that were discontinued 2 years earlier.

If they were changed it will put into question what else was changed over the years. That would be a shame as this car has less than 10K miles

Re: Taillights???

My be you can contact GM and they may have some information.
Thats probably the best your going to get unless you can talk directly to some one that managed the production of the car.

I figured if they screwed up once they may have done it multiple times....I am interested in knowing if there have been other stories of a similar occurrence.

Who knows what you'll actually find when you lay eyes on the car--many people seem to play the 350, the IROC, and the B4C card to assist in a sale. At any rate, learning what you find out will be interesting. Good luck with your adventure.

It is indeed a B4C... a friend already confirmed its authenticity... in fact my friend who looked at it was there when the car was purchased new. (He is a police officer as well).. There are a large number of B4C cars here because they were subsidized police vehicles.
