Driver's side mirror
The other day my wife was driving my car and when she shut the door, the little peg came out of the adjustment hole, and the mirror is just kind of flopping around. I looked in the hole and all I see is bits and pieces.
What do I need to do to fix this? Is it expensive? Anyone have any extra's laying around?
I am getting really tired of this car. It seems to be starting to nickel and dime me to death!

Re: Driver's side mirror
Power mirror guts and manual mirror guts are not the same. As a matter of fact - Power mirrors have at least 2 different types of guts, 2 different glass frames, a few different motors as well as 2 different types of plugs. All power mirrors should have the 'Peg" your looking for,...... manual mirrors use cables.

Check out this pic:

It shows the attching clip in the center and adjustment pegs. Notice that there are a couple versions, 1 has peg on outside and bottom but the other has a peg on the outside and a peg on the top.
If the peg itself is busted,..... All you'd meed to do to repair this is to pull the mirror frame off the motor, clean the old peg from the hole, push replacement peg back in place, and re-install the mirror frame. Obviously; you will need to be carefull not to bend the frame and crack the mirror ! ( If you do break the glass a new Dorman replacement glass is about $12 )
If the plastic peg mounts on the back of the frame are broken than you will need to simply pull the original frame off and install a replacement. Just be sure that you get the right frame !
Hope that helps !

Re: Driver's side mirror
Mine was not a power mirror. I had a little peg that was used to adjust the mirror, but it used cables to actually do the moving.
