Gas tank leakage

So I bought the car last year and I have noticed that the neck of the gas tank as I am making a hard right turn will let the gas run out of the car through the cap and you can see the running marks down the side of the car. Does anyone have any idea on how to stop this from happening?

It came with a brand new cap and I also bought a new one thinking it may just be the cap

Is the restrictor still in the filler neck? Did someone drill a vent hole in the cap? Just some ideas. They do or did make a vented cap for these cars. Not sure if yours should be unvented or vented. 92 I'd guess unvented.

Re: Gas tank leakage

Could also be the joint at the filler neck leaking. I had this problem and mine would leak if I filled the tank.

I also have that problem, how did you fix it? or did you just put a new tank in?

It could be that the restrictor is missing but how would I go about fixing that?

Yea I just put in a new tank. The old tank was probably repairable, but I just didn't want to deal with that. I also put in a new sending unit and pump too since its a real pain to get to that stuff and I don't want to do that job again.

Re: Gas tank leakage

I actually replaced the fuel pump and sending unit once and fixed the leak in the joint, but after I changed the pump it came to my realization that the car still wasn't running so I took it to a mechanic and they said the parts store gave me the wrong fuel pump. Long story short he replaced it and now the neck joint is leaking again.
