okay i cant find an answer to this

whether or not its been asked i dont care, are front bumpers pretty much interchangeable, i know firebird ones and camro ones are different thats not what i'm asking, can i say buy a nice gently used power options 91 z28 and swap on say the better looking front end from an 82-84 z28? what all would i have to do?

Re: okay i cant find an answer to this

Let me get this straight.......you think the front end of the '82-'84 Z28 looks better than the '91-'92 Z28s......and that you'd like to buy a '91 Z and take off the stock front nose and put on the '82 style nose Is that correct ?

Re: okay i cant find an answer to this

well what i was thinking is that given the choice i prefer the looks of early thirdgens (pre 84) to the looks of the later ones and even irocs, however i'd like the more modern conveniences thenmy 84 z has, ie accurate gauges, fuel injection, cruise, ac, power doors and locks, not rusted away (ik it still can be but 10 years makes alot of difference in wear and tear. i just wanted to know if you can swap front clips?

Re: okay i cant find an answer to this

Of course you can. Most 82-92 parts are swapped out often, I've seen people take an '82 Camaro and put the Iroc front with the '91 front spoiler skirts so it should be a problem to do the opposite, it will just look weird because the '82 front doesn't extend as low without the "92 front bumper lower spoiler & I don't think you'd install it on the '82 front end.

Re: okay i cant find an answer to this

Yes absolutely... we have z guy locally that put a 92 front bumper on his 82. I will agree that he front bumper on the 82 is better. Its not as rounded and has shtarper cleaner lines. I've had both an 82 and a 92. I like the both in different ways

I would find another car. Those 91-92 Zs are hard to find in good shape, and we don't need any more to become Frankenmaros.

LoL I agree, they are one of a kind and should remain mostly as original as possible

Re: okay i cant find an answer to this

one issue you will run into is that the skirts will not line up to the existing holes in the 91/92. the nice thing about taking 92 parts to an 82 is that the skirting was bigger, and covered up some areas. if you find a nice 91/92, taking off the skirts may leave a fade line that is noticable, and not to mention, i'm not sure if all of the holes will be covered and you will definally have to drill all new holes.

Re: okay i cant find an answer to this

The bad thing Aldo is that the 92-92 chin spoilers and mounting hardware was discontinued by GM. The aftermarket doesn't line up properly and there's no mounting hardware.Im hoarding the six I have for a couple more yrs

Re: okay i cant find an answer to this

Cuz it makes the one I have worth more money...lol. no really I think it has to do with a part that was made for roughly 3yrs whereas the other ground effects were produced for around eight years.. if I had to guess I'd day they just didn't have a lot of replacements made and on hand after ten years since they moved on to different body style.
