firebird and camaro shift plate differences

firebird and camaro shift plate differences
the t5 im getting to replace my 700r4 has a camaro shift plate with it...and i wanted to see if it was possible to make it work with a firebird?? i dont really wanna spend the $

Transmission: T-56 & 700R4
Don't bother with the Camaro plate.
You can enlarge the Firebird opening by cutting away the shift indicator window frame (med gray) with a fine tooth sabre saw/blade.
Cushion the bottom of the saw, or conversely the trim panel with masking tape to prevent the foot of the saw from marring the surface. Remember to cut close to the edge, but not on the edge. The rest can be taken down with sanding/filing.
This is what I did for my T-56 install. Results were very clean. Use a an aftermarket shift boot. I used a Mr. Gasket "Euro" boot.
I am thinking that this opening should be sufficient for your T-5 install as well.
