INFL (Light on dashboard went on)
Hi!
I've got a 1992 25th Aniversary Camaro RS and some light on the dashboard went on.
I do not have the manual anymore, so I cannot figure out what is it's meaning.
It is something with "INFL" in it. Could you please help? What should I do?
Also, is there any special difference in a 92 RS and a 25th anniversary RS? do both have 170bhp?
TIA

Not sure, but I think INFL refers to your inflatable restraint, a.k.a. your airbag.

Yes , that is your air bag sytem telling you its got a problem.
When the light is on the system will usually disarm itself until it is fixed.
I wouldn't go whacking any other objects until its repaired.

Thanks, guys.
Where do you think I should go for repairs?
Is it costly? Probably couldn't do it myself.

Hey, i was just going to post the same problem. i have a 92 bird and the infl. rest. light went on. inflatable restraint. i went to pontiac and they said my airbag was broke and it would cost me $720.00 to get a new one. i was wondering if you could just take the bulb out, because its a bright red light and it hurts my eyes at night. they charged me $40.00 just to hook it up to the machine and tell me the air bag wasn't working, duh. took em 2 seconds. is it possible to take out the bulb?

I imagine you could take out the bulb.
I heard/read somewhere that you can also put a resistor accross the airbag plug and trick the system into thinking that there is a working airbag still there.
If I was going to take the bulb out or do anything to the system other than fix it I would sure as he** unplug the airbag.
Any small votage spike from a malfunctioning airbag system could set that thing off. Thats why they usually quit working when it senses that there is a problem with the system.
Could you imagine...driving down the street with your big gulp....cigarette in mouth...hit a bump....when BLAMMO !! (cough, cough, cigarette...stuck in....throat... )
Not that it would happen, but its something to think about.

that't fine, man. i guess i just have one more reason to get a normal sport wheel ;-)
i'll figure out the dashlight. i am going to store the car for winter, so i've got plenty of time to work on these details.
thanks anyway
