I've been looking in junk yards at automatic center consoles for the 3rd gen firebirds and Trans Ams and all are in crappy condition. Are there any alternative center consoles that will bolt in easily (4th gen maybe or camaro) and look good or am I stuck purchasing a reproduction for $200? Any thoughts or pics?

 

i've seen the factory consoles on ebay for under $100 in nice shape.

i've been looking for the lower center console for an 85 TA in excellent condition and maybe an upper shifter plate if the price is right, but i didn't want to pay an arm and a leg for one ;^0 just wondering what others have done - are we really paying $200 plus for a new console???

 

Word on the street is the fourth gen consoles will bolt in. Yep, we pay huge money for new consoles.

I had a B&M shifter that i put in and i ended up destroying my console in the process. I found one at englishtown for 20 bucks. The shifter plate was the main thing i was worried about when i was looking for one. The one that i bought needed a little work, the shifter plate was perfect and now it looks like new. Try e-bay, and any big car markets. I'm glad i didn't put out 200 like i was planning on doing.
