Shifter ****

I have bought an after market shifter **** for my five speed but have run into some difficulties in installing it. The threads on the inside of the new **** are considerably smaller than the threads on the shaft. If it were the other way around, I could got the hardware store and buy a fitting, that simple. BUt, of course, that is not the case. The **** it self is a hard plastic with a metal piece inside of it with threads so tapping it out is out of the question. The **** it self if transparent and is black on top with flames on it and has a fiber optic light that goes into it and I am having serious difficulty waiting to see it in my Iroc. Thanks in advance for any help.

I had the exact same problem trying to put a Hurst T-Shift **** in my old Firebird...i found the best thing to do is to stay stock..after all, its just a shift ****, not a shifter, so its not really doing anything.

just cut the stick and fabricate the screw end you need, you might need to remove it from the car and weld it or,if your really lazy, just throw down a blanket and do it right in the car(cutting it could be messy),I know how you feel, when I have a trick piece for my car, cosmetic or performance I want in on period. I stop at nothing.

hey if that shifter **** doesnt work out get a new 2000 trans am or camaro 6 spd ****. The one for the hurst shifter. It sits lower than factory giving a shorter throw and its leather wrapped so it looks kool to. It is a pistol grip style and it has a kool "H" for hurst on top. It went right in for me no problems. U could get this from the dealer for a decent price or just find a wrecked 4th gen with the **** still there. It just spins right off

IIRC, the Hammer shifter is threaded for the OE T-5. It can be purchased from Summit (and probably Jeg's):

A pic can be seen in my Car Details below.

Because the OE threads are the same as the threads on Hammer (M16 x 1.50mm), the Hammer will fit the OE shifter without an adapter insert.

The "Check Application" on the thread above will provide more info if you need it.
