The first pic is the standard no-cost interior. It came with integral headrests and a once-piece rear folding seatback. Notice the sides of the center console are NOT carpeted and the door panels are molded plastic.
The second pic is the optional "custom" interior. The price varied over the years, but was $277 in 1987 (probably more in the later years). It came with adjustable headrests. The split rear folding seatback was a $50 option (in the early years) and became a part of this optional interior in the later years. Notice the carpet on the sides of the center console and door panels with matching trim, not molded plastic. These were included with this option.

My 86 Camaro came with the custom interior, which I thought was quite odd. It is the ONLY option that the car came with. The car didn't even come with air.

My car also has the custom interior but also includes the rear wheel well carpeting. RPO B48 "Deluxe Luggage Compartment Trim". They just keep giving you more options!!!
