Interior floor boards and roof 84 Firebird

I'm removing my entire interior tomorrow excluding the dashboard. and im looking to find rust. If i do i will remove it but my question is do i prime the floor with regular metal primer or automotive primer? and i can paint it black. the car will be red though. and do i paint it with auto paint or just any metal paint?

If i dont have rust? just leave floors as is or i take the extra step and sand them down and prime them to be safe.

After you have it all apart and the carpet removed take a few pics n show us what you found! Cars w/o t-tops are usually in better condition since they never had leaky t-tops, still moisture finds it's way in where ever it can find a poor enough seal so look the front and rear floorpan over good. The rear of the car under the hatch can also be a problem area, poorly sealing hatches allow water in and it usually ends up in the spare tire well and under the storeage compartment area on the opposite side. Wheel wells can also be a problem area. Also make sure you check for and if needed address any rust on the exterior, any of these cars were damaged along the pinch welds, mainly near where the bottom of the front fenders bolt on due to improper jacking/lifting, that sort of damage can rust over time. As for what type of paint Id suggest a good rust inhibitor such as POR-15, just make sure you apply it as instructed. Make sure to do both the top and bottom of the floorpan etc.

Alright will do. Also i realigned my trunk lid and i painted it all rust proofing it all. But i used a cheap sealant for it. I know it will keep water out but im not sure if i will create a strong bond for the shocks im going to install...
