Paint or wrap?

Gettin' close to the time where I turn my attention to the body on the 'vert. It's rust free, original paint still pretty shiny with a few parking lot dings. Just starting to look a little old. I've been reading up on the vinyl wraps and have become intrigued with them. No wild graphics, just a solid color, (pearl white?). Maybe a small-ish "bird" on the hood, but that's about it. Wrap seems to be a bit cheaper than paint but I don't wish to fall prey to "false" economy. So, which one and why?

Re: Paint or wrap?

paint would be best.
If you're gonna wrap it you still need to fix the dings and dents as all imperfections will show through the vinyl.
Having just voted for paint ..... I'm probably going to wrap my vert

Either way, that needs to be done.

Paint. The color on the vinyl wrap will fade a lot quicker than paint will, not to mention how much it would suck to have to recover the whole car to get the color to match if someone scratches\tears the wrap on one panel.

Isn't paint sorta like that. Someone scratches it you repaint and it doesn't exactly match. lol Either way I think paint would be more durable so less chance of a scratch or chip I guess

I don't know allot about wrap but I'm pretty sure you cant get a shine out of it like you can a B/C paint job.As far as quality goes a high end paint job is hard to beat. Im open minded so Id really have to see one up close in order to give you a absolute opinion. This is a B/C with the best PPG has to offer.

Re: Paint or wrap?

Fair enough, on the shine. Though, one of my color considerations is matte white. But, seeing as how it spends 99% of the time in the garage, I'm looking at this as a one shot deal. Supposedly lasts 5-7 years of "normal" use, so this shouldn't be an issue. I'll either be worm food or sitting in a chair somewhere with a bib on when it becomes a problem. There just seems to be something... unnatural about it though.
