Mold / Musky smell - - how can I kill it ??

I found out that while the car was parked for the past 6 months waiting for the machine shop to do their work on the new LT1 the RS was getting a rear seat full of water. The leak was coming in from the rear hatch which I have not replaced yet. Water was apparently pooling under the rear seats. There is no rust, thankfully! But I went in and tore out the seats and cut out the carpet from the front seats back. Getting rid of the carpet has kept the car dry - the sound material was acting like a giant sponge. So it's ok now and before it started snowing I was airing the car out as much as possible.

BUT - I know the car will still have a tinge to it. I plan to replace the whole carpet but don't want to have to replace the seats since they're all in excellent shape.

So what can I do to get rid of the mold? One friend suggested Febreze. I don't want a temporary fix or something that I have to apply regularly. Is there anything I can do that'll get it on the first pass? Maybe a car bomb - like the dealers use? Anything like that? Any help would be appreciated. Want to get it running and ready for the new season.

I had the same problem as you. Go to pep boys and buy something called "The Odor Gun". It's $3.99 and kicks a$$! I tried everything to remove the smell out of my car.
Baking soda, Febreze, a whole can of Lysol (no kidding)!
The odor gun worked though. Shoot like 5 sprays in there and you're done.

My car got so damp it literally grew mold on the seats and dash board. Joy. Anyway, I febreeze'd the hell out of it, then did some 70mph driving with the t-tops off and the windows down. Problem solved
