What cars came with digital overhead console

I found one on a 'maro at the JY. I have never seen one before, only the ones that have the little spinning dials that you set. This thing looks kinda sweet. If I take this thing, do I need to take the car's computer to run this thing?

i don't think there was an y such thing. The center console was offered from 1984-1987.It was option code DK6,and came w/berlinetta's but could be had with any model. What does the digital read show??? Does it look fabricated?? Also what car/ year did you find this in? HMM ponderous I'd say. I'm looking to install switches where the spools are on mine. GOOD luck hope this gets things started for you.

This thing looks factory--I saw part of the wiring, and it doesn't look aftermarket or like a hack-job at least. I don't remember what the readout had, but I'm getting it tomorrow, so I'll try to post some pics. I also have a "regular" overhead console, which I was planning to modify, but I may just use this one and sell the other--or vice versa.

Might be an overhead console from a s-10. My ex-brother in law had one in his and it had the digital compass and the outside temp in it. Does it have something that comes down where you could put glasses in?
Pretty sure that's what you're talking about.

I took out the little dials and plan on installing the digital display for my CD changer or MP3 changer in the same spot. It's a perfict fit.

i've got the spindle type in my 85firebird, it's stock, and from what i know there were never any digital ones. Unless it was out of a different vehicle, or was fabricated very well. keep us posted milt. Oh, as far as why we had them, they were just for looks, something neat to stick between teh t-tops gives the car a complete feeling, they're kinda rare still, only going on berlinettas and S/E's without extra pay.

Okay, the thing isn't factory at all. It was taken from some other car...but the install was nice, and it had a digital clock, as well as small warning lights for stuff like low windshield washer fluid, and some other stuff...
