t-top sizes??

i just picked up a set of ttops and a bag for my car...the ad said 82-92. he took them off an 82 thirdgen. and when i looked at them i knew they looked bigger. the bag doesnt zip up too. to me at first site i thought they were 2nd gen camaro/trans am ttops and bag. i only paid $100 for them. so if i cant use them i mine as well sell them. they do look bigger in length to me... i sized them up.

is there a diff in sizes from years to years...in the thirdgen world?????

The upper T-top is a C&C T-top.

The Bottom is a factory T-top.

You answered your own question. If the one on the top came from your 87 TA, then its a C&C T-top car and thus not a Factory T-Top car.

I'm betting you find a C&C sticker on the deck lid if you lift the hatch. Mine does.

Re: t-top sizes??

The C&C t tops were added after the car was built. Your car started life as a hardtop. C&C installed them as a dealer option.

Re: t-top sizes??

i thought the bigger ttop would of been a C&C car...since it came off an 82' thirdgen. those didnt come with ttops for v8 350's....as of my research tells me. mine are a lil lighter then the big ones and have a pin that pokes out to lock them in place...the bigger ones have a latch or hook that comes out to latch them in place......

Re: t-top sizes??

No 350 in 82. I think you could get t tops on pretty much anything in 82.

Re: t-top sizes??

I had a 91Z28 years ago that had C&C ttops. At the time, I thought I had found a rare 350 ttop car in 91 but research on my part confirmed that it was a dealer installed option. The c&C tops are a little shorter then the factory style and the bag for them is cheaper and doesnt have a GM logo on it. A factory Ttop headliner will NOT work in a C&C ttop car.

You wouldnt really know there was aftermarket Ttops on those cars unless you were looking for it AND knew what you were looking for. The biggest noticeable difference is the space between the windshield and the ttops. The C&C car have a larger gap there. I will check and see if I have any old pics of my 91.

Or any one just look at my albums. They'll show the difference. My gta is a C&C Car.

Re: t-top sizes??

From the picture you posted, for sure C&C. On factory t-tops the width at the top is the same as at the sides of the a-pillar. The C&C is wider. Also, the factory t-tops don't have the metal strip that runs along the front.

Re: t-top sizes??

Hey guys,
I'm in Australia and I just got a t top bag from eBay, it was said to be from an 88'. It has the GM logo in the middle, two straps, the separator flap to sit in the middle of the two tops, and it's a zipper bag. The back corners of the bag are rounded.

My problem is the bag feels real tight to get the tops in. I googled a pic of how they go into the bag, and have tried to put them in a 69 position which fits better. I was just wondering what's goin on?? I have the rpo cc1. Which I thought was factory t top.

From reading above, the frame above the windscreen is the same as the a pilar, it doesn't have any metal on the front edge. So that would fit in with a factory t top wouldn't it? If so are they meant to be a really tight fit, to the point that the zipper is stretched abit. Feels like it would break if used repeatedly.

Sorry for the long post. Ps. Not many third gens here for me to look at which makes it hard restoring my 87 Z28.

Cheers in advance for any help
