new Macewen overlay GP!!!

I am not organizing a a gp, but a lot of people want to get another one together so I opened this topic. REPEAT, I am not organizing a new GP, that is up to someone who wants the guages, I already have mine. If you are interested, post here and see how many others are interested. Someone will need to e-mail macewen to see what deals he can give groups. You could also ask MIKE HARVEY what steps to take. Ok, now someone take the initiative and see what happens.

The main reason why MacEwen didn't get them out in time was b/c he had a fire & damaged a lot of his stuff so he was putting double time into making them & getting new equipment so that they could get to us in a reasonable time frame, that's why, I feel sorry for him b/c of that but at least he's got better equipment now that his old stuff is gone.
I'm gonna post a NEW topic about this on this board letting people know that a new GP is going on for sure so look for plus I'm gonna hit all the other boards that I'm a member of as well. Later guys.

I don't have any pictures of the gauges w/ red bulbs but if you wanna see my gauges just click on over to my site. The link is in the signature.
Also they don't make the gauge overlays for anything older than an '86. So that mean '86 on up.

Hey Purple92 you are in luck. Let me talk to MacEwen. He made a set of silver faced ones for a 96 TA so who says that he can't do it for the thirdgen one's right? Let me talk to him, I really think that you are in luck on this one. Later

Ryan's site has all the prices. They range from $65-85. Depending on your generation & model. Then take 20% off of that if we get 25 orders. Heck we just need 10 more people & we will be set. Thanx guys

He now makes them for all 3rd gen F-bodies now. It doesn't matter what year, model, engine, tech, speedo, whatever. He's got them. Let me know what you want for what car & stuff. Drop me an e-mail.

i figured this would get something going, but i didn't wanna hear anyone mention silver ones, now i want them too. Oh well, my white ones are very very nice. I am very happy with them and Ryan. I got screwed by the post office cause they messed them up and Ryan fixed it right away. He sent them express mail and i had them one day later. He really is a stand up guy, don't worry about the shipping, i waited longer than anyone (6 weeks) and they were well worth it.

That's the problem that I ran into. My fuel gauges & oil pressure needles are still way off. My voltage is too. I'll mess w/ mine to get them right. It's all about remembering what your car did when it was cold as far as some gauges go. I can't really answer this question that well, can anyone else help on this?

I attached a scan of the flexible circuit/cluster.
At each terminal there will be a Phillips screw head, which you can clip alligator clips to.

Apply 12V+ to IGN
Apply 12V- to GND

Jump reference (OIL) to GND, gauge should read zero. (no resistance; 0 Ohms)
(with clip on GND, rotate clip until it touches REF OIL) terminal...

Jump OIL to GND using one 47 Ohm resistor, gauge should read midway or 30 PSI.

Jump OIL to GND using two 47 Ohm resistors in series (94 Ohms) and gauge should read MAX or 60 PSI.

The gauge works on a resistance scale of 0-90 ohms. If you pick up a pack of 47 Ohm resistors, you will be able to check center as well. You don't need huge resistors, just cheap 1/2 watts do the job. Pack of 5 is $0.49 at the Shack.

R (47 Ohm) + R (47 Ohm)
-/\/\/\/\/\----------/\/\/\/\/\--------- = 94 Ohm

-/\/\/\/\/\----- = 47 Ohm

Voltage, obviously can be calibrated, just by flicking IGN ON, and taking a reading from the battery (lighter).

It is quite possible that it would be easier to unplug the oil sender plug from the oil sending unit (TAN), and jump to GND that way.

Mike,

Above note: You have a V6,

Jump OIL to GND using one 47 Ohm resistor, gauge should read midway or 40 PSI.

Jump OIL to GND using two 47 Ohm resistors in series (94 Ohms) and gauge should read MAX or 80 PSI.

I'm in, as long as i can still swap tach overlays for the 5500 redline w/110 speedo. Did you ever check the tick positions ryan?

I'm in for sure, but how do I know when to send in what...and to whom do I send it to?
I already have the order form printed and filled out...it's just a matter of me knowing how to get involved in the GP
