I personally think the cowl hood looks better than an L88 on a thirdgen. I have a 4" cowl on mine. I have seen the L88's on 2nd gens and I think they look good on those. Just my opinion.

As far as steel or fiberglass goes, there are advantages and disadvantages to both. Fiberglass is a lot lighter, but will never be perfect unless hours of work are put in to it to make it as straight as a steel hood. Steel hoods on the other hand, are much heavier, but are much straighter than glass hoods. Just thought this might help a little.

I aked Rex Orr at ASCD about the rise height, he said they're about 2-1/4" for the SS & big block hoods and their cowls 2 1/2 " and 4". I think I'm probably gonna go with either the 2.5" cowl from them or a goodmark steel hood. Anyone know of another company that makes a steel cowl hood?

not sure about the steel hoods, but my next one will be the ASCD bigblock. i would have keep the first one, but i sold the car to my little bro(not to little, 6'1 215). he hit a deer back in the fall, and all it did was put some hair line cracks in it!! it pushed the nose down a little, which he fixed, and knocked all the paint off the nose. these are very stong hoods, for fiberglass. their reinforced underneath. a little lighter than steel, but not much. he has a turbo hood on his junkstang and when you hit 100+ mph it looks like its going to explode. guess you can tell i like the ASCD hoods best. plus they are only about 25 miles away for me. dont have to worry about shipping.
