I am re-finishing my gta wheels and dont want to use clear coat again. How much would powder coating all 4 run me? What exactly does this process consist of? Any alternatives to clear coat and powder coating?

 

I can't give you a price, but I've had several parts done, (runners, rear axle hsg, sway bar, and headers). My buddy owns a shop . Anyhow, the parts are cleaned (sand/bead-blasted) then sprayed with a plastic media. The parts are then put in an oven in which the media is melted to cover the part. According to my friend, there are a lot of options that can be done now with powder, such as hi-temp header coatings. It's a matter of what you want to pay.

Or, if you have an air compressor in your garage, buy a powder coating kit for $100 and a used regular kitchen oven for a few bucks and do all your parts yourself

as long as you have a spare oven lying around, cuz you will never be able to cook edible food in there again
