Re: WHAT IS MY 89 IROC Z WORTH?

Depends.

It looks like you have two different interior colors Tan/Grey and black wasn't the factory paint. That stings a bit.

The 5.7/T-Top combo is rare though. With that mileage you could probably get 6K for it, if I had to guess, but not from a dealer. (I can't see much of the interior though, so it's hard to judge) and it would also depend on where you are in the states.

You can always put it on Ebay with some ridiculous hopeless reserve like some of the other Camaros that have been up for years waiting for a buyer, but I wouldn't reccomend it.

These cars really aren't all that valuable though. I just bought a 91 hard top 5.7 Z28 with 13,000 original miles for 11K. I'm in the process of trying to sell a 90 Vette with heavy mods that no one wants to pay more than 4K for (Bluebook low is 5.5K, and I put countless hours into it myself) so I can sympathize.

Re: WHAT IS MY 89 IROC Z WORTH?

Not much.

90k miles isn't low miles, doesn't matter if it's low for the year, 90k is 90k, which isn't low.

Interior looks marginal, wrong seats and two colors.

Unless my phone browser lies, the car was repainted cheaply with a color change that wasn't done right, which destroys the value.

$2,500.

in my area, i think you could get around $4000 for that-first thing i would
do if it was in my hands is paint the underside of the hood and underhood
sheetmetal black.

2500 is way to low. I've noticed third gens are finally going up in price. I would say 3.5-4k would be a fair price as long as the car runs really well.

Re: WHAT IS MY 89 IROC Z WORTH?

Not with that paint job it isn't.

That car needs a total restoration. It's also wearing the wrong wheels, incorrect windshield trim, and it looks like the steering wheel may be incorrect; I don't recall seeing '89s with the leather twisted around the wheel like that.

Any color change done without doing the jambs is a de facto value killer, and it's even worse if the door jambs are red as well. Now that I'm on my computer I can see that the fender has a scrape on it showing the original color underneath. I'd also like to see what those harnesses are attached to. Fog lights are also broken or missing and something's up with the grille. Shifter plate also has something wrong with it.

And those are just the things I can see with the pics posted, put that thing in daylight and I'm sure I could find other issues. OP says the dash is perfect, but what I see through the windshield looks like the dashpad is missing.

The body looks solid from what I can see, and it appears relatively decent under the hood, but that's not a $4k car on it's best day. Not with that color change. I know it was a cheap paint job because it was recently painted before being sold, nobody spends good money on a paint job and then sells a car, unless we are talking 5 or 6 figure restorations. I see millions of cars for sale that were "just painted" and it's always Maaco at best, but most likely garage jobs.

It looks like a solid platform to start with, but it would need a lot of work to be returned even to stock condition. It just isn't a $4k car.

Re: WHAT IS MY 89 IROC Z WORTH?

I meant to people who just want a camaro, not some one who wants an original car. I wouldn't pay 3-4k for but someone would.

Hard for me to see the.pictures on my phone but I see more.of the flaws after you mentioned them. 2500 for someone who.knows cars

Keep in mind though, we are talking about the thirdgen crowd who wants a low mileage original for $3. Sadly, we couldn't sell that car to ourselves for what it's worth.

No, you do some research, that's wrong and I'm pretty sure you're about to hear about it. Those wheels on your car are '91-'92 wheels, NOT '88-'90 IROC wheels. Those were never installed on any IROC, ever.

Good luck, you came asking what it's worth, I'm telling you. If you are so sure what its value is, why are you asking? And lastly, if you aren't ready to sell it, why do you have an ad on Craigslist?

That is not a "flawless" car. Not even close. I'm actually going to adjust my appraisal down to $2,000.

3k. Everything puma has said is true, but these cars are not in the "10 million if its original, 10 cents if its not" category. Clean, well maintained is clean, well maintained. I'd say its worth more than 3k but with those fog lights, sketchy wiring, and weird paint job, Lord only knows what else is bad.

Re: WHAT IS MY 89 IROC Z WORTH?

Is that a piece of hood insulation or a dead rat hanging from the underside of the hood?

No comment on the car's worth, but I think it'll make a good starting point for nice car. At least it's not as hacked up as some 3rd Gens I've seen.

It is fixable.

Re: WHAT IS MY 89 IROC Z WORTH?

I was going to say 3000 to maybe 3500 but as he already sold it for more I am late to the bandwagon as usual. If under hood and doorjambs painted as well as some other things fixed then I would have gone higher.
Makes you wonder about the $4000 offer if he sold it for $3700.
