Re: rear view mirror question.

Nope. The mirror will flop around too much and CONSTANTLY come out of position even over the slightest bump. Only way to get rid of the stick is to get a full manual mirror like the passenger's side.

PO of my 87 thought he would be funny getting rid of the stick and the whole nine yards under it. Had to put one in to get the mirror to stay in position and pass inspection.

Re: rear view mirror question.

Well, one cheap, easy, and not-so-proper way to do it is to set the mirror in the position you want it in and fill the housing behind it with expanding foam (such as that Great Stuff foam).

I don't think that the guts from a passenger's side mirror will work on the driver's side for obvious reasons...

Re: rear view mirror question.

an easier solution might be just pull it through the door and zip tie it in an out of the way location.

I wasn't referring to the glass... I was referring to the stuff behind it. I don't think it would be as simple as just flipping the guts over because the housing is a mirror ( ) image of the driver's side.

Re: rear view mirror question.

If you can find a full electric mirror, then you can cut the wires and just move the mirror around. The gears may pop but they will definitely hold in place. It's what I'm going to do to help clean up my door panel.
