Q: Has anyone seen a late 80's TA converted to a Camaro?

I once saw a late 80's trans am converted over to a late 80's Iroc camaro's front quarter panels/hood/front end and it was interesting to note how closely it looked like a Camaro. In fact, from the front it was identical. even the rims were changed to Iroc rims. I thought this odd but was obvious since both f-bodies are so close in design. Anyone else seen such a thing?

How do you know it wasn't a Camaro with a firebird rear end?

The front will bolt on, the rear would have to be welded and stuff.

Maybe it was a mustang, but its owner realized his mistake, and tried to find the parts to make it into an fbody, but didn't know the diff. between Iroc and TA....

Why would you do that? If you have a Firebird and want a Camaro.. sell the 'bird and just buy a REAL Camaro. Its probably a little easier that way too.

Maybe if you liked the rear of one car and the front of the other you would want to do that. Or if you just want to be a smart *** , that is the reason I would do it.

I saw a Camaro this weekend with a bird front end on it. It was just a base model Camaro, with TA front end and all ground effects, and to boot he put Pontiac mudflaps on it! I had to laugh at the mudflaps, but it threw me at first. I thought oh there is a 2 color bird from the front but after it drove by, I was baffled. Though I made a mistake in my judgement. Must have been in an accident and he got the bird stuff cheaper. The whole front of the car was primer black.

Well changing the quarter panels wouldnt be worth it. Just buy the other car. As far as the fron end all you need to do is buy all the parts. I am sure my buddy and I could swap our front ends quickly and easily. Everything should just bolt right up. Just get a donor car and you shouldnt have any problems.

There is no more info dude, you should already know that the front end will bolt on, but the back of the car will cost enough to make it ridiculous to change the whole car over.

To do the swap you would need to use
Nose
headlights
hood
fenders
interior (dash mostly)
rear bumper cover
taillights
You don't have to replace the whole quarter. Since you're replacing so much of the body anyhow, a welder and some bondo could fix the difference in rear quarters.

You'd basically only be keeping the doors, unibody, and some misc interior pieces the same on the body. For the price you'd be paying (especially if someone else was doing the work!!) you could easily pick up a nice Camaro body and plant your drivetrain in there. If you really love your car so much you don't want to buy a car then don't defile it by trying to make it something it's not.
