On second thought, since I am divorced, don't listen to anything I say.

LOL!!! Dude if you don't hear from me for a month call the cops... I almost hope its a pile. He has not called me back yet, but I'm pretty sure I know where it is.

I just shouldn't spend that money, and I kinda like my gun.

mine wasn't an iroc, but a 90 RS when i got it. several holes need to be filled, and the gfx brackets need to be cut off as they're spot welded on. it's not tough though.

tires are from 85, so it must be factory. who would buy new set of tires on a brand new car? its a very low option car. didnt even come with berlinetta rims....just steels dated march of 85.

man, no way i'd be riding around on the road with 27 year old rubber man...

yes, taking the gfx off will leave holes everywhere there is gfx on the car. you'll also need a different front/rear bumper cover.

I don't have any digi-dash...but I would recommend seeing where all the dash mounting bolts are. Then change that sucker out for a dash with gages!! Sorry, not a fan of those digital dashes.

I am a fan of SC's though...but they must have either a cowl or Sunoco hood on them...it really sets them off IMO....
If I drag this thing home I know I am in deep poopoo, but its clean, and pretty close to what I was looking for. I'm scared of the digital dash stuff since most parts for that stuff is un-obtainium... Should I?
No -Just go get that car BADNBLK...it's easier to ask for forgiveness rather than permission sometimes....

EDIT: I like both with and without GFX BTW....

I'm learning slowly. I scratched my head for one hour too long. It was sold just before I got there. Dude sold it for $350... showed back up on CL less than a week later for $1500 with no repairs or improvements. Wish I could have been that guy LOL!

Wow, I know this thread is thread is way old but I completely agree. 82-84 Sport coupes. I have a 86 with the 82-84 front nose, hard top, T5 V8. I too want that 5 inch spoiler on mine. Im doing the 17 inch GTA wheels though for more of a squared stance and lower it just a tad.

GFX add about 100 lbs, I really like my SC with about an 8" black stripe around the bottom
I think when I paint it I will do a faded black stripe this time whatever the color
BTW, I have a brand new '86 GFX nose cover I would gladly trade for a SC nose cover in perfect condition!

Wow.

Thread back from the dead.

I guess that's OK, since a lot of us really into that necromancer thing with our cars anyway.

Pretty sure the priest was coming to deliver last rites to mine when I traded a $300 rifle for it. Its still on life support. But the doctor is sympathetic, and the patient is mostly cooperative.

I like all third gens.
Immaculate to immobile.

My 1988 "half-year" model parked on the roof.
(No, I didn't drive it up there to throw it off.)
Clearcote has deteriorated since this pic. Some improvement of the mechanicals though.

I LOVE the no spoiler look! ....my 86 SC had no spoiler, and I got comments on it quite a bit actually. Had that really clean look, many people hadn't seen.

No rear spoiler, glass hood and rust free.

I've been shopping around for a "parts car" and came across what I thought would be reasonable. Now while I haven't decoded the VIN, it appears to be an 82 Berlinetta. What has surprised mean was how absolutely clean and rust free it is underneath. Add that it's got new rubber on the 15" Z28 rims, which are also very clean, and it's worth the $750 it cost.
Thinking of dedicated race car but finishing my current SC would probably be a good idea first.

Hi there,
Very nice looking car. That's a Sport Coupe, not a Z28. Yes you can put the GFX on it from a Z28, I think you need to weld on a couple tabs on the lower quarter panels in order to bolt them on, and drill a couple holes in the doors. Look on this website, I think I have seen a build thread that explains it all.

Personally, I would recommend keeping the car as an SC. It's a very clean look, and you don't see them every day. Is yours a RHD conversion?

Re: Sport coupe V.S. others

Thought I'd revive this thread after a few years.... ....when I last posted in 2018 I still had my 89 that most of you know me for! -Have since sold that and it was a good choice. No regrets. It was time to move on. I've been through a few that didn't quite stick since then, and now, I've got a Hyper Blue '16 Camaro SS, and no thirdgen. -but I'm about to start shopping. Really, REALLY looking hard at an SC. Not sure exactly what direction I wanna go with it, but it would harken back to my very first thirdgen, which was my first car in high school. Bright red 86 with a 2.8 and a t5! Anyhow....wife and I are closing on our new home soon, and then have to sell our current home. Once that's all done, -I'm shopping!!!! Money is there but I need to keep it on stand by for now while bigger moves happen. Hope to be shopping by fall! ...in the meantime, thought I'd post up a link I've been sitting on. Car is long since sold, but it's SOOOOO close to my first thirdgen, I use it as motivation. Beautiful car!
