What year did the interior change?

I have an 86 Trans Am with the black, square style arm rests and latch.

I want to toss them and put in the new, molded style.

Also... has anyone else done this? Do any of the brackets have to be changed?

Thanks

the door panels i beleive changed in 90 to he other style but i think GTA'S hay have had them before that.
Also 85 shared the 86-92 center console but had the 82-84 Dash.
then in 90 the dash and doors changed with the addition of the air bag.

If you are talking about the center console , it sounds like you have the wrong one , 82-84 had the square type that you are talking about , the dash also was differant , they changed it for the 85 model year , basivally the same from 85-92 with minor changes due to the air bag wheel, but 85 had total new dash and center consol only thing was the guages looked the same as the 82-84 I think they are the exact same thing , but you should have the molded type center consol in your 86
