So I see an ad listed as "black Window Louvers" on craigslist. I thought, louvers???.... well just maybe...... I read the ad and looked at the picture! No way MUSTANG? All hardware in perfect shape - said to be NOS and look as if (minus some small white specs that come off with a damp cloth easily) including ALL hardware and even the "key". Very excited to put them on but not happening for a while, I have one he Cragar louvers for right now.
These are OEM correct? Have part numbers and all aluminum 3 piece. Oh yeah, I did pay his $40 asking price.

Thank you for clarifying. I was pretty excited the whole way there and going through in my head, what Mustang could have a window that shape. The second I saw them in person, I knew they were Camaro/Firebird. I'm glad I talked him into letting me come and get them right away.

Man...it may be a good score but what do these things actually do for the car? It seems that it would add unnecessary weight and they also make the car look like one big cockroach. Check out the pic of the roach below...they have the same type of shell design...hehe

 

haha thats funny. i use to hate them at first, but they grew on me the more the 80's style has been comming popular lately. it just pretty much says an era to me. but it kind of reminded me of like an eagle,hawk, or cat thats mad and all "fluffed up"

What do they do? They keep the sun out and still allow you to see behind you. If properly installed and maintained, they don't rattle at all, unless they are a cheap set. The GM originals on my car don't rattle at all and they worked great at keeping the car cooler on the Hot Rod Power Tour when temps were hitting over 100* outside. These and a set of TTop shades worked great at helping the AC keep the car cool.

 

I know this is a waaaay old thread, but if anyone can help me find this exact louver style, I would be very grateful! I consistently only find louvers that are different in shape, style, etc. Any help from the specifics for searching (I'm talking about the first few pictures of the thread). Thanks!

 

For factory metal ones, you'll need to scour your local listings like Craigslist etc..or flea bay. They're pretty hard to find and don't come up often…especially a truly good set.

AFAIK, the cheaper (not in price) ABS sets are still available…same style…just plastic. I wouldn't use them on a DD type car, but they've worked well on my weekend warrior! Good luck!

they keep that huge back glass from being a heat sink.they are a great way to keep interior temps down. maybe 15-20%
