yep, mine has the selanoid on it, not functinal yet though. You may need to add some wiring for the switch, but it's nothin difficult.

The solenoid can be added to your existing power pull down hatch motor assy. You just need to get one along with a relay and switch from a coupe. I added it to my convertible. Convertibles have a tonneau release rather than the hatch release. I now have both. Get a Helms manual for the wiring schematic.

I have a 1992 RS with power pull down. but with no switch release button. I found a wiring harness with three connections under where the switch is located and I found a little black box what are they?

If that lil black box has large gauge yellow wires coming from it, leave it alone. It is a sensor for your air bag (aka SIR Supplemental Inflation Restraint).

Check eBay for the Helms manual. They are the only ones worth a damn. The Helm manuals run $90 new. With tax & shipping it cost me $108 and change a year ago for my 88 Camaro Helms manual. 8^(

Something I forgot to add. I believe the 92 was a unique year. It has a square style hook on the hatch and a motor with a flat spot on one side. You can't interchange it with the older style without replacing both pieces. We tried to swap a 92 motor into the pull down assy of a 87 and it didn't work. Physically it fits OK. But, it pulled down too far and fried the motor. The internal limit switch must be different. Also your 92 style latch has a funky feature forcing you to allow the moitor to power the hatch all the way up before it will release the hook. Prior years can pop the hatch and lift it right away, before the motor has had a chance to come up all the way. If you have good strong gas struts the hatch will rise up automatically when you pop the release switch. Good luck, Lon.

what did you have to make your convertible trunk power and where did you put the switch (didn't they have them at first until they change the t-tops into converts)

Re: Can a power trunk release ?????

I hooked mine up to the existing plug under the console and added the relay from another 92. When I hit the button to release it the motor will power up and start to raise up but never releases it. Then it pulls it right back down. I have also changed out the rear relay. I was told I needed to add a ground in the back , but where.
Thanks Deron
