$350, thats great. Let me give you one piece of advise. Check under the rear quarter panels for rot. Those cars rot out faster than just about any other one out there. my best friend had an 85 monte ls and it was in great shape! except for the body rot under the right quarter panel. But for 350 you can't beat that with a stick. good luck

Dont forget about the emissions in NY! If u cant get it registered because it wont pass the sniff test it may end up costing u a whole lot more in the long run. If the car is mostly stock(smog pump, pollution equip etc.) & hasn't been butchered in any kind of way(jury rigged) then go for it!
Remember if a performance car has a lot of stock stuff under the hood(miles of wires, & pollution equipment) & u do all of the mods yourself you will know exactly what u have.

For 350 why even bring a mechanic. If it does not run or even needs an entirely new engine it is still a great deal.
This is one of those cars that you either just love or really HATE them.

Those G-bodies were also bad about the frame rusting. whenever you see a (malibu, malibu wagon, cutlass, you know them all) that's got a bumper that's hanging low...
that's probably because the frame got filled with mud and road grime and finally rusted away and is barely hanging on. I build a circle track car out of a '78 regal and got hit from behind and knocked the rear bumper off because the frame was rusted out around the rear wheel area.
If you don't like it...Part it out

They don't rust out that bad. You're talking about NY. You have that problem with any car. They have the same problems any thirdgens have. At least it isn't an 80's Dodge!

I say get it, because a lot of people WOULD pay that for even a bad condition car if they only planned on *******, racing, or using it as a winter vehicle.

you wanna talk about rust? My uncle buys toyota pick ups all the time, puts new bodies on them and sells them for a profit. Every one he buys is rusted to hell. He says that one in every five trucks he buys has spounges taped to the inside of fenders and bumpers and on the beds. That way when it rains, the water sticks to the spounge and just rusts out that area. Then you would have to go get new parts. He said a lot of dealers got in trouble for that back in the 80s. The dealers were hoping that you would come back and buy replacement parts from them.

Rust? I'll tell ya about rust. 76 Nova. No wait. It wasn't rust. It was some very rare options.
Flintstone brakes
Gas tank replaceable through the trunk
Swiss cheese frame for reduced weight
Trunk access through the quarter panels (no key required!)
Swiss cheese firewall (makes connecting amps to battery a breeze!)
Put it on a lift and it bends, yes it bends!
