Just got finished istalling a roof console in my hardtop 88GTA. Turned out perfect, the cool thing about it was I did not have to go through the hassle of removing my headliner! Took about 2 hours. To make a long story short. Find and mark the center of your ceiling. Use your existing mounting holes from your dome light (these will be your back mounting screw holes for your roof console where the light is on it), and measure down toward winshield the same distance as the 4 mounting brackets on the console. Cut a small hole and should find the factory mounting holes for the console screw fasteners. Keep measuring and cutting where you need. Note, a big hole has to be cut for the 2 front mounting screws, because you need to make room for the back of the map liht and switch assembly. Just take small cut from the center of where you are working and out, till you have the room you need. Not alot of area to work with. Take your time and it can be done just fine. Plus you dont take the chance of damaging a old headliner when removing. This procedure saved me a ton of time and work. ThoughtI would share outcome and procedure.

 

I just installed a roof console in my 90 Formula t-top and i removed the headliner and it only took me 45 minutes.
