91-92 stereo removal??
I've had 3 other 3rd gen camaros and this is the first 91-92. I went to swap out my stereo and couldn't get to the top left torx screw that holds the radio faceplate on.It looks like I have to remove the driver side underdash panel. Do I simply remove the two button looking tabs?? Any help would be appreciated.

That screw is a "fake". Once you get the other 3 out, just lift the faceplate forward and you'll probably have to wiggle it to the right just a little and it'll come right out.

i would have to disagree about the "fake" screw. I replace my 92 cd player with an aftermarket unit a while ago and had to loosen up the underdash panel. I am positive it was a screw, but maybe its different on other cars..i dont know. I might add that it did help a little to get that radio panel thing off (pain in the a$$).

Mine was a "fake". There wasn't even a screw there since the dash covers the hole up. I just had to wiggle it outta there.

Ok, if I remember correctly, my 92(RIP) had a screw in the hole, but it was very short and didn't actually screw into anything other than the trim piece. It was a pain to get off, but it's just a pain in general screw or no screw.

The short screw is correct. the top left is just kinda a clip. Once you have the kit for the new radio you have to do some twisting to get it in. You have to give it a good little tug to get it out. Mine was a pita. I never even screwed it back down because I have it apart all the time to change components.

Re: 91-92 stereo removal??
My 92 has a fake screw. I found it easier to take out the four screws holding down the trim around the shifter (two by the radio and two by the power window switch). Lift the rear part first and flex the plate slightly upward in the middle near the shifter. Put on the parking brake and move the lever into neutral with the engine off. The rear will lift out first. The radio trim will be more free to move about to slide it out from the bottom first outward and toward the passenger seat.

You don't say! LOL
On the 92's its behind the lower dash panel and you can't even get your finger in the space to feel it or see it for that matter. I don't even know why they went through the trouble to mold it into the panel.
