Attn: MetalliCamaroRS, about your hatch...

How did you go about sanding and repainting the hatch strip. The one on my 91' Bird has a spot on it where the black paint came off and it's all shiny now. It also has one small spot of rust? Any suggestions? Should I remove the hatch to do this? Thanks.

You dont have to remove the hatch. What I did was:
1.) Masked the area first so when I sanded, I wouldn't accidentally scratch the glass/paint. Open the hatch and lay paper along the weatherstripping so most of it is outside the car. Then close the hatch and tape it down. Its easier than trying to mask it all with the hatch closed.
2.) Sanded the strip til it was shiny. Mine only had a couple areas of rust, but I chose to sand and paint the entire thing.
3.) After I sanded it, I blew the area with compressed air to get the crap off. Make sure the strip is clean.
4.) Then I sprayed it with black Rustoleum (sp?) enamel and let dry for about 8 hours. Don't let it get wet until the next day because it isn't fully dry for 24 hours.

Hope this helps. Any questions, just ask.
