Cover to the trunk in very back of car

If anyone can help me with this I will greatly apprieciate it. What I'm talking about is back under the hatch in the very back of the trunk on my friends 84 Formula he has a cover that makes the trunk flat. It makes like a storage compartment in the trunk. My 88 Firebird does not have this cover. If anyone knows what this is called, or anywhere I can find one please let me know. I have tried all the local junkyards and can't call anywhere because they think I'm talking about the one on the left side plastic one. Thanks.

Have you considered making one from a sheet of plywood or plexiglass?

RPO D27, "cover, locking rear storage"

If you get one from a junker you'll need the rear panel that covers the hatch release, (the cover sits down on the extended lip on this cover), and there are also specific braces welded to the rear panel you might want.
When I added mine I got everything I could find that was different, cut the braces out with a chisel, & pop riveted them to my car.

And don't forget the plastic piece the cover latches to and it's two 10mm screws.

I have one for a non-power pull down hatch out in the garage. Just the door not the back trim piece. If you dont have a motorized hatch this would be fine.

I guess $20 + shipping would be fine. I wlll look for the little black plastic screw covers tomorrow if your interested. I have some short self taping screws that will mount it with no problems. Have used them in 2 different installations. It has blue carpet on it. Just take it off and put on the color you want. Remember, you will have to get a back interior trim panel or modify the one you have with a 3/4 to 1" lip.
Let me know, just sitting there.

Tony86TA,
Thanks but I found one in a junkyard today and the rear trim piece so I went ahead and bought them.
