Help me please, the automatic trunk pull down on my 91 RS bit the dust! I, of course, can not close the trunk now and the rains they are a comin! PLease give me any info on how i could find a quick replacement, or at least how to close the trunk completely until I actually find a replacement. Thanks in advance.

In my experience, once the motor goes it is basically impossible to get the hatch all the way down without replacing the motor. Start calling up wrecking yards, I think I paid about $45 for my last one about 2 years ago. Camaro/Firebird interchange as do all years. As a last resort you can always install a non motorized latch, but you will need the plastic cover too (I purchased one for the day when it is impossible to replace the motor, and stashed it away).

This is just and idea. I kinda can visualize what it looked like when I had the back interior panel off last, but why can't you take out the motor tie a string to the hatchback hook run it down through the panel out the bottom and into the back seat where you can tighten it down and tie it. Its kida jimmyriged, but it might keep out the rains and the theifs untill you can get a motor.

I JUST REPLACED MINE ALSO. I FIGURE SINCE MY CARIS 15 YEARS OLD AND I REPLACED IT WITH A USED ONE EVENTUALLY THIS ONE WILL GO OUT ALSO. SO NOW WHEN EVER I AM IN THE J YARDS I WILL BE LOOKING FOR ANOTHER ONE TO JUST THROW ON THE SHELF. SINCE IO LIVE AROUND A LARGE CITY I HAD NO CHOICE BUT TO REPLACE VERY QUICK OR FIND MY CAR BORROWED BY SOMEONE ELSE. JERRYRIGGED WAS NOT AN OPTION. I DID SEE ONE ASSEMBLY IN THE JUNK YARD THAT HAD BEEN WELDED IN THE UP POSITION SO THAT THE OWNER COULD LOCK HIS TRUNK. MIGHT WANT TO TRY THIS FOR TEMP. SOLUTION.
