Power Mirror Swap

Maybe I'm searching for the wrong thing, but...

Has anyone tried to mount the power mirror motor from a 4th gen in a 3rd gen housing?

Re: Power Mirror Swap

Sorry, I don't see them.

I don't want to put 4th gen mirror assemblies on my car, just the motors from inside the housings. I guess I'll find out in a couple of days whether or not this is doable. I'll take pics when I try it.

I haven't see or heard of that...and I'm in thr middle of doing my swap...I dont have pics of the mirrors on just shaved doors...if you look at the pics of my car in primer ...you'll see that I no longer have holes for stock mirrors. .

So why are you doing that???

Re: Power Mirror Swap

As part of my LS1/T56 swap, I'm taking the entire (and I mean everything) electrical system from a 2000 Camaro and retrofitting it into my '89. Since the '89 had manual mirrors, I figured it would be easiest to keep the housings and fit in the motors/actuators from the 2000.

If I had power mirrors on the '89 originally, I would simply splice or re-pin the connectors.
