Just decided to break to pissed me off

My automatic trunk release broke today and I don’t know what it is I looked at the fuses and there is nothing wrong and then I when to the back and took it out and could not find any thing wrong with it no striped gears or any thing my brothers have striped gears on it and it does about the same thing as mine does nothing but they are not striped. Is there another fuse somewhere? What’s wrong? I have temporary fixed it by rotating the engine intile the trunk can be pushed on it and it locks like a Manuel one but there is no engine movement at all so I am stumped

check obvious stuff first, as in all connections, check to make sure water hasnt gotten into it, my frineds 86 SC got water in that area and one of the connections wasnt connected right and it shorted out, he let it dry out(with the trunk open) and re-did the connection and its fine.......he also had a mnaul release not sure if theres a difference between your auto and me and my friends manual..........

What about the switch that's down in the latch? If it thinks the switch is out all the time, the motor acts like it doesn't have power. Maybe the switch got a lot of dirt n stuff down in it.

I eliminated the motor altogether, i used metal tapping screws to hold the latch assembly at the proper level on the guide rails to allow the hatch to close tightly.

If you want more detail on how this was done send me an email.

This happened to me too a couple of days ago. All I did was clean everything up waited 15 mins and it started working again. It might have been water that dried, but I'm not sure.
