Bouncing Speedo-Needle

Please help:

I have already removed the cluster several times and are tired of it now. I have removed the cable and lubed the cable(w/ spray white lithium grease). When I reinstalled the cluster I was careful to make sure everything was lined up correctly. The speedometer was sent out recently to have the tripometer fixed and the speedo recailbrated. Any ideas on what to do next? Help!!! Thanks in advance.

I have a bouncing Fuel gauge. I can't tell what the hell I ever have in there, but I never fill it up more than 8 gallons every time it says empty. So either the damn thing works like crap or I have an 8 gallon tank.

Save yourself alot of grief; put in a new speedo cable and it will stop bouncing.

Replace the speedo cable huh?

Now the question of do I replace the entire cable from trans. to speedo? Or, the "half-way" part (the one you can pull out when you remove the cluster? I assume the "half way" one? Sorry for the ignorance.
